To Kill A Mockingbird Chapter 11 Analysis
In chapter 11, of Harper Lee’s, To Kill a Mockingbird, Jem has to go to Mrs. Dubose’s house after school every day to read to her because he destroyed her flowers. The story would be described much differently, however, if it was from the perspective of Mrs. Dubose.

To Kill a Mockingbird Question 3 To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is considered by many to be the “great American Novel” because it depicts several parts of the “American Dream” including liberty and the fight for equality. One example of the depiction of liberty in the novel is when Bob Ewell gets a job. “The first thing was that Mr. Ewell acquired and lost a job in a matter of days and probably made himself unique in the annals of the nineteen-thirties: he was the only man I heard of who was fired from the WPA for laziness.” (p. 248) Mr. Ewell was given as equal a chance as everyone else to make a respectable living but because he was unwilling to do so he was fired. The fight for equality in the nation between blacks and whites is depicted throughout the entire novel,…

One significant lesson that Jem learned as part of growing was during the encounter with Mrs Dubose. Mrs Dubose stated that Atticus was "not only a Finch waiting on tables but one in the courthouse lawing for niggers", assessing the Finch's family mental hygiene and insulting Atticus, which caused Jem to be infuriated. Although Atticus had instructed him to "take it easy" and "hold [his] head high and be a gentlemen" without making Mrs Dubose mad, Jem "cut the tops off every camellia bush Mrs Dubose owned, until the grown was littered with green buds and leaves". The trouble that he caused ended up with him going over to Mrs Dubose's house "every afternoon after school and Saturdays and read to her…

Fear and Ignorance Keep Prejudice Alive I do think that fear and prejudice do keep prejudice alive. I think that way but I also think there is more to it. But 2 components to prejudice are fear and ignorance. Ignorance makes you not want to listen to other people’s circumstances and where they are coming from or even why they feel that way. Also fear can make people want to stay away from some one or something and that can create prejudice. Sometimes people don’t even know why they are prejudice against some one or some thing, and by that they are basically just being ignorant.…
