2. ABOUT THE PROJECT

►PROBLEM STATEMENT Tata Communications Limited is one of the leading company entrusted with the responsibility of Broadband, Dialup and Wi Fi internet access. It becomes difficult for a company to connect its geographically different sites for which they have to purchase a frame relay circuit or atm circuit. They hold 100,000 routes and more which makes the process very slow.So.we have to make a network between 4 cities – which will make the connectivity faster.

►PROPOSED SOLUTION We will design a network (VPN) using : •Multiprotocol layer switching(MPLS) mechanism.MPLS is a new forwarding mechanism in which packets are forwarded based on labels. It is designed to support forwarding of other protocols as well. •Virtual Private

Being made up of various parts each layer has a unique function in the network. Additionally, each layer incorporates things to the data which is transmitted from one point to the other. The protocols which work on this layer are HDLC, PPP as well as the frame relay protocol. HDLC protocol means High-Level Data Link Control protocol. An additional protocol which works on layers of the OSI model is the Point-to-Point protocol (PPP) that is just like HDLS protocol. The frame relay protocol works at the data links layer of the OSI model (Cisco, 2008).…

A logical star topology using CAT5e UTP cabling will be used for the WAN. For a dedicated line from each location to the headquarters will be a T1 leased line. Chicago, Phoenix, and New York will need the T1 leased line connection back to the headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. The T1 leased line was chosen over the T3 leased line because a T3 leased line could be substantially more expensive. The offices across the street for sales and engineering will use a VPN to connect to the headquarters building and a leased satellite connection will be used to connect the plant in China to the headquarters building.…

ENorm Inc. would do well with a Mesh Topology; we would use existing wiring closets to run the new cables needed to setup the network. We would also setup the wireless WAN to connect the two offices together. The network will be server based and will have a separate data base server at each location to handle application and data at each location, but accessible to all who need to have access to it. We would have switches in place to handle the necessary bandwidth we decide to go…

The headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia will be home to corporate operations, marketing department, administrative staff, and the accounting department. This branch of the company needs a strong network since it is the center of the company. A fiber optic line will be used as the backbone of the LAN at the Headquarters. Ethernet cables will connect the client computers to the switches that are wired to the backbone. This is the most cost effective solution since the backbone of the network will carry the heaviest load (Regan, 2004).…

Install a chassis based switch with router modules installed and fiber ports to connect this building to the newly designed backbone. Chassis switches are robust and scalable; they will survive the demands of the network for the next 3 years. Connect the three building via the chassis switches using fiber from building to building and a dedicated point to point circuit to the service provider’s WAN. This will allow…
