Competency Statement 2 (To Advance physical and intellectual competence) One of my goals of the functional area of physical is to have activities planned that will challenge the physical ability. Playing organized games outside with the whole class is something that could be done. There are many planned activities that can help promote children physical skills, but it can also be done through free play. Providing the proper equipment can make free play a very good way to achieve this advancement. One of my goals of the functional area of cognitive is provide activities that challenge a child’s thinking. This is best done through activities that require much thinking. An example of an activity that will advance cognitive development is a type of maze. It may be one you can walk through or one you do on paper, but a maze will help get the brain flowing. One of my goals of the functional area of communication is to set an example for the children. A child learns very well when they see an example set for them. If I show how to talk to one another through communicating with the children, then they will begin to communicate the same way as they have seen. One of my goals of the functional area of creativity is to put focus on materials and lesson plans that make the child’s imagination wild. Dramatic play materials are something that will help child’s creativity. Best example of creativity is an art. When kid does art their creativity will be much abroad.
CSIa: One example of physical development is a game called SKIP HOP AND JUMP. In my philosophy, this experience helps kids to become stronger. This activity will help their muscle, joints, and it will more likely work as of their usual exercise. Also this activity will make them energetic for a day.
SCIb: The example of the cognitive experience in my portfolio is a LAUNDRY SORTING. By this activity, kids will learn shape, size and difference of stuff.

    To advance physical and intellectual competence I provide various amounts of equipment and activities that help promote the physical development of children I do this by offering activities that will allow children to use their small muscles and large muscles. Children need these types of activities so they can become familiar about how to use their muscles and to develop body strength. Activities such as jumping, running, and balancing themselves will help them gain strength in lower parts of their bodies. These activities allow them to work with their gross motor skills. Activities such as painting, puzzles, writing, coloring allows them to use their fine motor skills. I try to encourage children to use their cognitive skills. I do this by having the children think about how to solve problems rather than simply asking question and receiving and answer. For example children asked “What happens if we bring a grasshopper into the classroom?” The children brought a grasshopper into classroom to see if it would hop around, make noise, move, or stay still. Then the children and I discussed why it moved or didn’t move. I keep activities interesting so that the children will want to learn and use their minds. In the classroom cognitive skills are used on a daily basis. I encourage children to be creative. To me children should have access to materials such as markers, crayons, paint, and pencils, and paper. By having these materials available will allow them to explore and be creative. I play music also sometimes play music in different languages. By playing the music it encourages them to dance and that is a way for children to use their gross motor…

    Play is a child’s context for learning. Children practice and reinforce their learning in multiple areas during play, play gives them a place and a time for learning that cannot be achieved through completing a worksheet.
