Titanic Paper
My name is Eleanor Roster and I was eight years old when it all went down. I remember it like it was yesterday. I feel like those three, long, dreadful, cold hours just play over and over in my head constantly. I just remember hearing screams, and workers saying, “Women and children first!” I was a first class child, I should have been on a life boat first! Even when I think about it, it stirs up all of my anger, tears, and the need for revenge. I should have lived, I shouldn’t have frozen to death. I remember sinking into the water, watching the life boats float away with people aboard. They had tears, fear and thousands of worries in their eyes. I remember seeing tears, hearing screams and cries, smelling smoke, and feeling ice cold water on my pale white skin.(repetition sentence) I was one of the 1,517 people who died on the Titanic in 1912.( says “tears” a lot) I had a good life before the sinking. Parents were in love, I was an only child, in a great house. Then once the Titanic sank it was all over, for me at least. My parents had another baby after I died, like they were trying to replace me, or start over. It makes me so angry. Now all I want is revenge and I will have it. But I am a ghost, and this could be a problem. Like, how will I pick up the sharp blade to get the sweet taste of vengeance. However I do it, their death will happen, and it will feel good. And I might just do it tonight. ( I don’t like that sentence, I don’t think it belongs) I floated through the back door, and I crept to my old room. I saw the most dreadful thing anyone could ever see. I saw a crib, a changing table and a pillow, with the letters M-A-R-Y embroidered on the front. Such an innocent name. What will happen to her when I kill my parents? Well, its not my problem. While wondering through the long, narrow hall toward the living room, I heard laughter. It made my stomach tighten and my heart ache. I felt sick. The happy family, two parents, and Mary. When I

I don’t remember much about how my family died, I was just a three year old boy; Keenan Waren. All I can remember is it was Thanksgiving day with my whole family. I know it was this day because the smell of the turkey was burnt into my memory, and it’s also what the people at the orphanage told me as I was growing up. Something else I can recall is seeing a tall, bulky shadow holding a green flame in his hand after the lights shut off. Everyone was screaming, but I am still unsure of what was happening to them. My mom carried me out into the rainy night in front of the house in my carseat, and I was crying for the teddy bear my aunt gave me for my first birthday. I kept crying, so my mom covered me with blanket and ran back inside to grab it…

I woke up in terror, I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t move, all I could do was sit there with shear fear. How is it that after all this time I still have these terrible dreams filled with uncontrollable guilt? Fifty years ago, Fifty years ago and even after all this time I can't seem to ease my pain. Hearing Mary call from downstairs I got up and headed to the kitchen. Mary is my live in maid. “Good Morning, Montresor. How did you sleep?” She looked actually concerned; I should just tell her it might help to tell someone. No, that is a terrible idea. “Good morning, Mary. I slept well thank you for asking. I'm headed to the study let me know when breakfast is ready.” I walked slowly into the study, I know I shouldn’t go in there, every time I…

The most powerful aspect of the film The Titanic is not the love story. It is not the grand staircase, or the luxurious dining room. It is not the interaction between characters, or the extravagant “Heart of the Ocean.” The most powerful aspect of The Titanic is that it actually happened. At the end of the film, there were 1,502 dead bodies sinking and in the freezing salt water of the Atlantic. No “story-truth,” no matter how elaborate, could create a greater tragedy than a “happening-truth.” Why not? Since “story-truths” are not as true as “happening-truths.”…

Throughout The Odyssey, the audience views Odysseus in many ways, one way as a mighty hero. Greek culture strictly defines a hero while modern culture possesses a looser definition of a hero. Joseph Campbell defines a hero as, "someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself... The hero performs a courageous act in battle and saves lives." Through the lens of a Greek, Odysseus mirrors the picture of heroism. However, twenty first century humans consider Odysseus a famed adventurer. While many different people label Odysseus in different degrees of heroism, the readers find themselves both agreeing and disagreeing with Campbell's statement defining Odysseus as a hero, each individual reader must formulate their own personal opinion on how they view Odysseus, agreeing, disagreeing, or a little bit of both.…

A major shift in our innovative world occurred during the beginning of the 20th century. Inventions that rule our era today were first brought upon in the early 1900s. One of the most notorious of these inventions was the steamboat. During this time there was a big transition from sailboat to steamboat. A significant change as to how naval vessels were built and operated took place, which sometimes resulted in conducting problems leading to tragedies.
