Titanic Journal
9 April 1912 Papa, Madeleine, and I are going onto the Titanic tomorrow, and I am eager for this quite exciting journey to be. It is her maiden voyage across the Atlantic to New York. We have filled our bags full to the top, and are going down to Cherbourg, Normandy, France to board the breathtaking ship. I miss Mama and Alice dearly and I am anticipating seeing them again. I am hoping that I can find a chance to play my violin and maybe have someone take me into business with them, and we could become a duo, or even better we could start a symphony orchestra. That, I believe to be the one thing I would like to do before I die, especially on the maiden voyage of the Titanic.

10 April 1912 Today I boarded the ship, Titanic, with papa and Madeleine. Madeleine and I are sharing Cabin D-36 and papa is in D-48. This is the largest ship I have ever been on in my life. All of the details are somewhat over whelming. After exploring this jungle of people and happiness, I have returned to my cabin to write and then prepare for bed.
By my looking around I have discovered some of the wonders of this massive ship. Here is a list of my discoveries: * There is a Pool * There is a Gymnasium * There are Squash Courts
(Who doesn’t love a good game of squash?) * There are Turkish Baths * There is a Live Band on deck * There are Lifts
I am rather excited for this trip. We have already left port and are heading for Queenstown. According to everything I have heard about, we shall arrive there by tomorrow morning.

11 April 1912 Just as everyone has said we have arrived early in the morning at Queenstown. Everyone is up and about already and new passengers are boarding the ship. Today I have made a list of things I would like to do today:
Have a pleasant conversation, ride in the lifts, swim in the pool, and make acquaintances with someone.
I am off to fulfill my day. I have fulfilled my list and have done every single one. Edith Russel is

Right now, I and my mates are in the Nova Scotia Gulf Stream. And lucky us, we have the whole day off. We have been working exceptionally hard and diligently for months and I do believe this is well due ha-ha! I am going to spend my day off laughing and talking to my ship mates. We will probably go to the bay on the port and catch a brewie. Maybe some beautiful ladies will be there that we can get to talking with. We are ALL in dire need of that, especially since me and my wife’s divorce. Speaking of my family, I think after the bar with the guys I might go ahead and write a letter. And then after that I’m going to sit on the very edge of the ship and watch the sun set because there are not too many days that pass that are as beautiful as today. Then catch a good nights rest because we don’t too many of those around here!…

Day Two: Its day two which means that it is December 28, 1872. Today is my off day and good thing too because the sky is very gloomy and cold. In the morning all of us cleaned our bunks and straightened our clothes because no one likes messy rooms. I had been nominated to cook for our cabin today so as soon as I got in the kitchen I got started. I prepared my meal of salted pork, potatoes, and carrots with a lot of care. Since we were early on in our journey we had plenty of supplies available. The thought of being onboard for so long honestly scares me because I know there will be fights and sickness.…

Sitting in our kayaks, with bows pointed towards the North Shore Mountains, we were faced with a difficult decision. To our left, open ocean, the call of Wreck Beach and the natural splendour of Pacific Spirit Regional Park and to the right the urban oasis known as Vancouver. This is the thrill of launching from the expansive beaches of Spanish Banks. After much discussion, we decided to head to town. The glistening towers lining English Bay and Yaletown were like beacons guiding us towards the protected waters of False Creek.…

The existing historical presentation of Sir John A. Macdonald has recently come under scrutiny as the media and historians debate and struggle over the historical memory and monuments of the first prime minister of Canada. Through visitations to such locations and the reading of source materials, it is proposed to the cultural services branch of the city of Kingston to remove MacDonald’s name from the streets, schools, plaques, statues and historical sites that fill Kingston. This is in accordance with creating a welcoming and safe environment and community for all. MacDonald’s legacy is one of both triumph sorrow and to claim one to be his principal legacy is denying the existence and experience of many. Rather, instead of ignorant adoration,…

The Titanic’s maiden voyage was a disaster because they didn’t have a boat drill. Also they didn’t have enough lifeboats.Second they didn’t take the warning about the iceberg that was ahead.Third they didn’t warn people of the iceberg that was ahead.Fourth they didn’t go away from the iceberg.Fifth they didn’t send a message to other boats to help them with saving all of the people on the boat because they hit an iceberg.Last they didn’t even warned they people that they hit an iceberg at all.An example of this was the lack of a drill on pages 401-402 because they didn’t have a drill and people didn’t know what to do in an emergency.Another example of this is they didn’t warned people of the iceberg and they hit it on pages 398-399 because they…

We started by going on a boat from St. Ignace to Mackinac Island. When we arrived there we rented bikes to ride around the island. After that we decided to go ziplining at a Starbucks. I realized that ziplining wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be. The coolest thing that I saw there was the arch rock; it was so fascinating because it was all real stone. You could see the gorgeous bright blue lake through the hole in the rock. It was so beautiful that we all decided to take a photo in front of the…

It also goes against the expectations of Hollywood films in its portrayal of gender, by casting Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio and by the personality of their characters. The film attracted a large young female audience which greatly resulted from the narrative of Rose’s journey of entrapment to freedom and eternal love. This tragic love story is appealing to females because the idea of finding true love, the perfect man and freedom is what they often…

I went in thinking that the city of Ottawa was nothing special and was similar to many cities in the United States and that the House of Commons debate was a comedy show. I came out thinking that the city valued and honored their history with statues embedded within the culture of the city, and that the debate in the House of Commons was a genius political ploy that is more focused on how the Prime Minister is portrayed to the Canadian public, rather than enacting policies or laws. The trip showed me that even though at first glance the city of Ottawa may seem similar to the United States, there are in fact many…

Instead of finding the priceless diamond, they find a drawing of a nude woman wearing the necklace, dated the same night the Titanic hit the iceberg, April 14, 1912. Rose Dawson sees the painting on TV and immediately contacts the explorers and tells them she is the woman in the drawing. Brock Lovett, being very interested in her story, brings Rose and her granddaughter Lizzy to the ship.
