Time Of The Butterflies Reflection

In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alarez is a captivating novel that kept me interested from beginning to end. I was fascinated with the story of the Mirabal sisters, who were four women that battled against the dictatorship of Rafael Trujillo. Even though only one sister was able to make it out alive, their story continues to live on for the people in the Dominican Republic. The three sisters that passed away are remembered every November 25, which is also known as the International Day Against Violence Towards Women in many Latin American countries. Their courage and bravery has left a huge impact in the modern world, so it is an honor to have a day named for them. When I first picked this book to read over the summer, I had a small
