Tim's Coffee Shop
Executive Summary
Tim’s Coffee Shoppe set up outside looks very appealing for customers to go inside and have a cup of coffee. When looking at the inside the atmosphere looks appealing for customers. The business is also open every day from 6am to 2am with a bus stop close to the business so it is easier to get too when not having a vehicle. Notice that the restaurant is located next to the college. With having a coffee shop next to a college this will mostly attract more college students and also with having live entertainment this should get more customers to come in. With the live entertainment I noticed that there is no time schedule to when the live entertainment is going to be at the restaurant it just states that the live entertainment will be there most afternoons and evenings. The restaurant has a buy ten get one for free, this is a good way to get the customers to come inside and buy some coffee and listen to the live entertainment.
Tim’s Coffee Shoppe is a location that people can go, enjoy the live entertainment, drink a good cup of coffee, and visit with their friends. The shop orders in fresh Jenna’s Bakery products daily so that the customers will get fresh products with their order. Tim’s Coffee Shoppe comes with employees that know what they are doing and also love to work there. Even though for some of the problems the coffee shop would be a good investment due to the revenue that comes in and that the employees are good to the customers.
Regulations
With the regulations the bulletin board in the break room needs to be cleared off so the employees can see what laws that needs to be met by working at this coffee shop. I did notice that the bulletin board needs to have something that states the Illinois employment laws. Some of the Illinois laws are to have the minimum wage posted and also should have the legal holidays.
The legal holidays for Illinois is as follows: New Year's Day; Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday; President's Day;

    Tim should research partnership companies such as Microloan Coffee. This company deals with small, local growers in Honduras. He can select a grower that would best serve the needs of Tim’s Coffee Shoppe and know that by doing so he is helping their local economy as well. Honduras is a developing nation where a large part of the country depends on the coffee industry, especially during harvest time. By partnering with a company such as Microloan Coffee, Tim can ensure great tasting quality coffee that is actually helping people directly at the grow source.…

    My comparisons are based on the surveys provided in the simulation. Tim’s seems to be offering a fair product but will need to compete with a chain coffee shop. This means he will have to offer exceptional service and value to his product. He needs to set himself apart from the standard chain store. He can achieve this by ensuring a wide variety of great products. Most importantly the service will make or break any retail establishment. Having great service and satisfied customers will keep them returning. The fact that he has an ideal location is a good start. Adding conveniences like debit card capability and wi-fi will only increase business.…

    After carefully analyzing your Coffee Shoppe, I have found several aspects that are considered strengths and weaknesses. Tim’s Coffee Shoppe has already established its presence in the busy downtown area of Sunnydale, Illinois. Your shop is located by a large college and Horvath and Arbanes Station, which are major bus stations. The shops’ location is great because of the steady traffic flow throughout the day and it is accessible from several parts of town. The shop is lacking a few technological updates as well as organization. From my analysis, I concluded that only accepting payments in the form of cash is making you lose some of your potential customers. The shop should accept several forms of payments to better accommodate the customers’ preference and increase revenue. Everything should be done electronic with hardcopies as back up documents. The menu should be revamped as well. The shops’ is spacious all around, however the back rooms are clutter especially in the storage area. If you could clear the clutter, you would have more room for storing supplies. You could buy materials at a larger capacity which would save you some money, since buying in bulk is more cost effective. According to the income statement in your file cabinet, your supplies for the previous year cost you $135,827. As far as management, you have ten employees and the majority of them seem satisfied with their employment there but you can sense the morale is low. One of the hardest challenges employers face is boosting morale. We will need to think of creative ways to approach the employees and their overall opinions about their job. It would be in wise to seek new employees or assign current employees, who are strong in leadership to management positions. If you were to go this route it would be in your best interest to assign one to each shift. Also with reviewing your income…

    Tim’s Coffee Shop is a great business that would seem to benefit from large business moving to the area. Looking at the income statement Tim’s business actually earned a decent profit in 2008. With the new surrounding business to the area this will bring an increase in business volume for the coffee shop along with plenty of new customers. This also could have some negative effects on the business with the increase of some on the expenses that naturally come along with more business volume.…

    After reading this it makes me want to be a manager for Trader Joe's. There making a lot of money. But with the workers that work for them there given a lot of benefits with all the health, dental, vision and etc. Also they're given promotions from within philosophy because they're privately own. Also they tell there employees to try the produce so when someone has a question about something they can take them to something that is something there thinking about or better. Trader Joe’s has designed jobs to increase job satisfaction by showing appreciation in providing more benefits to their employees than other chain grocers. They provide starting benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, company-paid retirement, paid vacation, and a 10% employee discount.” Traders Joes also recruits people with certain personality traits that the company wants in their stores. They are able to enrich their employees with knowledge of their products that they are selling, as well as inducing customer involvements. The barrier to enter this industry is low only for the local coffee and snack shops because the investment is quite low. Also, the foodservice regulations can be achieved and licensing required for this industry is not difficult to obtain. However, it would be high enter barrier for these specialty coffee shop or chain shop due to the mature life cycle of coffee and snack shops in Canada and high investment on both physical and human capitals. As stated in the article, the industry is concentrated with Tim Hortons and Starbucks with 86.9% market share. Brand identity is essential for the big player since it is difficult to change customer’s daily routine and taste. Also, the economies of scale help larger operators to negotiate favorable terms with suppliers. Moreover, due to the large capital requirement, these major players in the industry can extend their business against the potential competitors. So the newcomers would, therefore, have a cost disadvantage.…

    I would first like to say I am very disappointed and rather pist off at the way I was treated the other night. After going through the drive thru and purchasing a hot chocolate I then went and sat in my car in the parking lot to do some work on the computer using your wifi at your 24hour location. After not even an hour of sitting in my vehicle a female worker from the night shift without ever coming out to my vehicle or saying a word to me decided to call the north tonawanda police to come and check out my vehicle saying i was passed out in it. This is completely untrue and a very large assumption. Before I knew it I had 3 cop cars around my car asking for my licenses because an employee had called them about a vehicle they have seen before and was sitting outside. If you dont want people to stay at your location why offer free wifi and why not come out and directly ask me if im ok. I feel completely harassed and disgusted with the way Tim Hortons decided to handle things and will not be soon to return. I just dont understand why an employee would feel so threatened by someone working in the car with my computer opened and on my lap specially if she had seen me there before using the wifi. I am student and thought Tim Hortons was a nice location were I can get some work done. Also I dont understand why someone wouldnt just come up and talk to me after all she went on numerous cigarette brakes and my vehicle was parked in a well light area with computer clearly visible. I think what upset me even more is when I called the store that night to ask for the corporate number she said she did not have it, could not find it and no one working knew it. I find this unacceptable and not good business at all from a place i thought valued their customers and welcomed…

    Billions of people across the globe choose to have a cup of coffee each morning to start the day or as a morning work break but coffee has become more than just a drink. Coffee has become an ingrained part of various cultures and coffee shops can be found in most every city around the world. It is little wonder that coffee ranks among the world’s largest commodity markets second only to oil ("Dangerous Grounds: About the Show", 2013). Given diversity and competition in the market, the small startup company of Custom Coffee & Chocolate will require a clear mission statement, detailed business analysis, and tactical plans that will help it to increase market share within the Seattle community.…
