Till Death Do Us Analysis
The Oxford Dictionary defines a relationship as the way in which two or more people regard and behave toward each other. Though relationships are often seen in a positive light, the special investigation, Till Death Do Us Part by the Post and Courier makes me wish that some did not exist.

The Post and Courier explained numerous relationships that I would wish on no one. For someone who holds connections between people in the highest regards, that is saying a lot.

The article is no doubt one of the best pieces I have read in quite a while. The topic is grim, but somehow I was left with hope after reading. The format of the article is what made me most impressed. I felt like I had an in-depth breakdown of domestic abuse; something I knew

Being able to see a real woman speak this sentence hooked me. I knew I had to read the whole story after hearing this. What impresses me most about Till Death Do Us Part is that this moment is replicated throughout the whole story. These little bits of real people’s lives make the story raw and experiential; something I think any well-written story needs.

As I look back at the article, I cannot get over how well it is structured. The multimedia experience brings the words to life. At first, I thought I would be reading seven pages of the tortures of domestic abuse. However, the first-hand accounts, time lines and graphics are, in my opinion, exceptional additions that make such a difficult topic manageable.

After reading, all I want from this story is more. I want to know more about these people’s lives. I want to know that they are okay and that this problem in South Carolina is being addressed with full

I applaud the Post and Courier for using such writing skill to lighten the stigma of domestic abuse. Not only is the article informational, it is well-rounded, taking on multiple avenues to explain the

Then, and only then, did I come close. I believe that Relationships are the connections between people which can be expressed in many different ways or situations. In the poem ‘manhunt’ by Simon Armitage he explores the relationship between a wife and her husband, whom is an injured solider who has returned from war. In nettles, the relationship is between a farther and his son who has fallen into a "bed of nettles." Both poets show the consideration felt by the reader of the poem for the other person in the relationship. In the manhunt, the narrator’s consideration is for the mental suffering which her husband is suffering. Similar to Manhunt; in ‘Nettles’ it is the father’s care for the injuries of his son which he feels was caused by the nettles.…

Child exposure to domestic violence is something that is happening way too often in the United States today. This is a personal crime that affects not only the adults involved but the children who are witnesses to it as well. The content of the video is basically showing how children are very much aware of what is happening around them and how the actions and feelings of their loved ones can and will effect a child’s life. There are too many instances where an adult will toss aside what a child may be feeling in order to satisfy his or her own feelings.…

The main theme of the story is domestic violence. It made me realise how strongly opinionated I am on the topic and it sickens me to read how Enrique, the main characters brother is violently beaten by his father at a very young age for completely nonsensical reasons on several occasions. For example he beat him for getting dirt on the carpet and another time for going over a stone while mowing the lawns. ‘Dad backhanded him and blood came to his lips, he called him and idiot and incompetent. He backhanded him again.’ I cannot personally relate to this but it infuriates me to read knowing this carries on in our society.…

Fall 2013 Introduction Beaten, bruised, broken bones and black eyes. Humiliated, discouraged and emotionally damaged. These are just a few of the things that Francine Hughes went through for over 12 years receiving abuse from her husband, James “Mickey” Hughes. Every nine seconds in the U.S. a women is assaulted or beaten (Schneider, 2000). Her story is a unique one in a sense, which she lived in a time where no one spoke publically about spousal abuse at all. Women were told that what happens in the house stays in the house and no one else should know about it. So for years Francine stood firm to that pact until the day she couldn’t take anymore. March 9, 1977, was that day.…

Abstract (Summary) A speech by Judith Ewing, abuse counselor and deacon of Christ Episcopal church, is presented. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This year it was launched with the most tragic event people have experienced in many years: the murder of a wife and her four children by her husband. On the steps of the State House in Columbia, on Oct 2, 33 life-sized cutouts depicting the 32 people who had lost their lives due to domestic violence and one to honor those who are unknown victims, were held by family and friends to honor the memory of those who had died. Thirty-two people died by the hands of someone who professed to love them. Domestic abuse is insidious; it escalates sometimes slowly, sometimes rapidly. So often the abused party cries in silence, suffers in private. Partner violence is largely caused by a need for power and control.…

Hearing some of the logic behind staying in a domestic violent relationship was very stimulating. I did not realize how dangerous it actually is to leave an abusive relationship and the consequences of leaving is often grave. Leslie Morgan Steiner stated that for the ages 16 to 22 years old are more prone to be in a domestic violent relationship with 3 times the likelihood and that 1 in every 3 women are abused or stalked. At that moment in her presentation, I was convinced that I was in denial of my own past…

An anonymous writer explains the time she was on a train and found a mother threatening to beat her own kids. When the kids came over to talk to her about where she is going the mother came up and looked more put together and was a very nice person overall. She didn’t have a mean look to her, she was so much different. She explained how she tried to shake it off, “It really had been a long ride. Little kids are very demanding. She must be frustrated. I found myself excusing her harsh words.” This is the moment she realized, abusive parents are everywhere, most are experts at hiding it. She wrote, “Now the fact that I wouldn’t have been able to pick her out of an abusive mother’s line shook me terribly.” This gives a look into the world of abuse, it is hard to pick out abuse but it’s there in the…
