When he gets washed up in front of a British bungalow, the excitement just starts to happen. He will have to have a war with the evil. Along the way he shows the traits curiosity, cunningness, and bravery making him a hero. Rikki-tikki-tavi shows his curiosity when he first arrives at the British bungalow. He is amazed of how many things to find. ‘“There are more things to find out about this house” he said to himself, “ than all my family can find out in all their lives. I shall certainly stay to find out.” He spent all that day roaming the house.’ (17) This shows that Rikki-tikki has curiosity because …show more content…
He used this trait to save the boy from Nagiana when she wanted to kill the boy. “Nagaina spun clear round, forgetting everything for the sake of the one egg and Rikki-tikki saw Teddy’s father shoot out a big hand, catch Teddy by the shoulder and drag him across the little table with the teacups safe and out of reach of Nagaina. “Tricked! Tricked! Tricked! Rick-tck-tck!” chuckled Rikki tikki. “The boy is safe and it is I-I-I that caught Nag by the hood last night in the bathroom.” (25) This shows how cunning he was to use the last egg to save the boy from Nagaina. He also used cunningness to destroy the all but one of the eggs by using Darzee (a bird) to lead Nagaina aways so he can destroy the eggs. “Darzee if you have a grain of sense you will fly off the the stables and pretend that your wing is broken and let Nagaina chase you away to this bush. I must get to the melon bed, and if I went there now, she’d see me.” (23) Cunningness was a trait that Rikki-tikki had to help him win the …show more content…
When fighting with Nagaina, she went down to a hole “and she plunged into the rat hole where she and Nag used to live, his little white teeth were clenched on her tail and he went down with her and very few mongooses- however wise and old they maybe, care to go into the hole.” (27) This shows how brave Rikki-tikki was since none of the mongooses will ever go down, but he did because “Rikki-tikki knew he must catch her or all the trouble will begin again.” (26) Another time he showed bravery was when Nag was in the water jug he risked his life to jump in there and hold on. “Then he jumped. The head was lying a little clear from the water jar, under the curve of it; and as his teeth, Rikki braced his back against the bulge of the red earthenware to hold down the head. This gave him one second purchase, and he made the most of it. Then he was battered to and fro as a rat shaken by a dog…..” (22) He could of just let go,but he chose not to and wait into the humans killed Nag completely. This shows how brave he was. Bravery, cunningness, and curiosity are all unique traits of Rikki-tikki. All of these traits are shown starting from when he first arrived at the British bungalow until the very end. Rikki-tikki persists with these traits and shone through with all of them. These traits make him a true hero in the eyes of the

Rudyard Kipling's story Rikki-Tikki-Tavi from his novel The Jungle Book has become a major hit ever since it was published. When Chuck Jones' cartoon film Rikki-Tikki-Tavi was released, it became even more popular than the book. But this didn't last long for the movie soon lost its entertainment value due to being too old-fashioned. The book retained its entertainment value because people still read old books and consider them to be classics. People who read the book will be bitterly disappointed by the movie as they would expect a digital adaption to be modern. Really being old-fashioned is no reason to discredit the movie…

To re-establish my point, a hero is one who betters the society selflessly, or even at the cost of their own wellbeing; Riel fits seamlessly within said definition. Primarily, Riel is firm in the face of injustices. To clarify, he offers solutions of compromise to the government of how to maintain the interests of both the Metis and the English settlers in peace, however, upon being provoked, he fights back valiantly and with equal force. He is fair, yet does not stand to be pushed around by the commanders. In addition, the Father of Manitoba remains loyal to his people and cause until the very end. With the motives behind the rebellion of protecting the rights of the Metis clear in his mind, Riel is willing to die in the fight for…

“The motto of all the mongoose family is, ‘ Run and find out’, and Rikki-tikki was a true mongoose.” said Rudyard Kipling, the author of Rikki-tikki-tavi. Mongooses are very curious and love to play with other mongooses as well as humans. Real life mongooses are much like Rikki-tikki-tavi. They are playful yet sly. They are sensitive yet frightful. The film and the story are very similar yet different still. Many of these similarities and differences include the characters, setting, and the conflict in the two mediums.…

If you recall in paragraph 25 killing a snake is a grown mongoose's business. This is his first step to growing up. Also if his mother fed him on snake, he would have natural eaten it. People on the Earth could sometimes misuse the word hero because for them, they think heroes are only the people with capes or people within the high society and make a massive impact on Earth but in reality anyone could be a hero to someone. The Dictionary states a hero is “someone admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities”. Rikki is a mongoose that defines what a hero is and there should be no argument. First, I think Rikki is a hero because Rikki followed Nagina into the hole. According to the text it states,”And very few mongooses however wise and old they may be, care to follow a cobra into its hole.” This shows Rikki is brave because Rikki doesn’t how many snakes might be in there because it’s really…

Bravery is one of the main symbols someone should look for when trying to determine whether or not a person, character, or author displays the qualities of a hero. In The Lion King, Simba's uncle, Scar, drives Simba out of his home by making him believe that he was responsible for his father's death. After many years of hiding in pain and anguish with his new friends Timon and Pumba in a serene forest, Simba's friend Nala finds him, while hunting for food. Simba returns to his homeland which is being torn apart by his Uncle Scar and his allies, the hyenas. Simba, Timon, and Pumba return to Pride Rock and fight to regain control of his kingdom. With the help of the other lions, they defeat Scar and his cowardly hyenas. The bravery Simba displays is that of a true conqueror and defender. He demonstrates true heroism and courage, because he returns to his home and triumphs over his evil uncle to recapture his kingdom. Likewise, Simba also displays heroism when confronted by three very mean and crude hyenas in an elephant graveyard. Simba protects his friend Nala by acting as if he was old enough and mature enough to save her. This shows the courageousness Simba has when the time is present, and that he is willing to sacrifice…

The two characters from the book “Rikki-tikki-tavi” that I will be comparing are Rikki and Chuchundra. Chuchundra and Rikki are most obviously the opposites of each other, so here are the differences. Chuchu is very cowardly, while Rikki is quite brave but Chuchu is very sharp in things like the two cobras Nag and Nagaina. Chuchu likes to stay out of things that may cost his life, he is very wise to do that but Rikki is a very curious mongoose so he goes sniffing around for danger. In one point of the story Chuchu helps Rikki by telling Rikki that “Cannot you hear Rikki-tikki” “a noise as faint as that of a wasp on a window-pane, -- the dry scratch of a snake’s scales on brick-work. “That is Nag or Nagaina” he said to himself”. Chuchundra actually help save the man and his family.…
