1. Comprehend concepts related to health promotion and disease prevention. (M,PH,D)

a. Identify the harmful physiological and psychological effects of stress.

Specific Learning Outcomes:

1) TSW name five traits that are used to describe personality. (DOK 1)
2) TSW identify two factors that determine how your personality develops. (DOK 1)
3) TSW describe what happens to personality over a lifetime. (DOK 2)
4) TSW compare the effects of high and low self-esteem on health. (DOK 3)
5) TSW describe the changes in self-esteem that can occur as people age. (DOK 2)

Lesson Outline

1. Establish objective:

How many different personalities are there in this classroom? Today, you will learn about personality, self-esteem, and emotions.

2. Involve learner:

Everyone in here has their own personality, some may be similar but we are all different. What does the word personality mean to you when you hear it? What five central traits can be used to define personality? What two general factors combine to influence your personality?

Teach to the Objective

1. Explanation (s):

Interpersonal communication skills is how two people communicate ideas, thoughts and feelings to another person. On page 30 I am going to have them do the warm up before class even begins and find out how many of them have similar personalities.

2. Directions

I am going to divide the class into groups and have them choose a character from a book, television program, or movie.

3. Activities

After time is called each group will use the five central personality traits to describe the character. Have each group to share their responses with the class.

1. Summarize

In this lesson, you learned the five traits that are used to define personality, and what happens to personality over a lifetime. Also you learn the effects of high and low self-esteem on health.

A. Enrichment
High Level thinking question:
1) Do you choose friends whose personality traits are similar to or different from yours? Why do you think so?
2) Describe something that you accomplished in the past year that made you feel proud and explain why?
B. Remediation
1 ) If a student does not understand the lesson, then I will assist them one on one.
C. Special Accommodations/Interventions
1) I will pair students who struggle with those who understand.

Formative Assessments

TTW question the students to insure understanding.

TTW ask them 2 questions from the Section 1 review to check for understanding.

Assessment Accomodations

TSW be sent to an inclusion teacher. One source the student will be allowed to do is work in a separate area and read aloud.
