Have you ever heard someone say, “I should write a book?” Perhaps you’ve said it yourself. People want to write books for a lot of reasons and I believe everyone has a book in them. Perhaps they think writing a book will lead to becoming famous or they might make a pile of money. Some people may want to write to show peers from high school that they aren’t a big loser after all. I think the main reason most authors write is based upon their past experiences and things they have encountered throughout their lives and this is no different from children’s author Cylin Busby Ross.…

In poetry for instance, the writer has the ability to say a lot with few words. They can present a problem and a solution, and leave the reader with their own individual points to ponder. In short stories, the writer is given the opportunity to open a window into a situation and let the reader be a voyeur of some sorts in their story. This allows the reader to find significance and tie up loose ends on their own. A novel however, allows the writer room to stretch, place to expound and philosophize. Basically, every word and detail must be there for a reason. It doesn't give the reader much room to imagine, but rather paint them a vivid picture of what is being portrayed. In any form of writing, I agree with Baldwin that the power of the written word can transform your life and raise your thoughts above the mundane tasks of daily life. For both the writer, and the eager reader. So through all these ups and downs of writing, what can be achieved? Why keep plugging away in your journal or diary that no one will ever read? Every person who writes has a reason. But first, "Begin with the desire to speak into silence, begin from…

The world is full of writers of all kinds: novelists, biographers, copy writers, and even bloggers. Every so often, one of those writers will rise above the rest and become a great author—but what exactly does that take? Many qualities have to come together in one person to make his or her writing great, so having the idea for a story alone is not enough; great writers also have to possess talent and originality as well as the dedication required to see a story through to the end.…

Everyone writes for different reasons. Writing allows us to tell a story through our own perspective. It allows us to pour all our thoughts and emotions into something that we otherwise might not speak about. Writing can spark ideas and memories we have and draw them out to be put into words on paper. It exercises our mind and our way of thinking. When you write you say what you mean. Some people use writing as an outlet, a way to express themselves or relieve stress and anxiety. It can be used for any purpose. Elie Wiesel uses his experience in the holocaust in a lot of his writing. He feels that he must be the one to tell the story of the victims, the ones who can’t tell it for themselves. As a survivor he is responsible for never letting anyone forget about it. I like to write about something I feel strongly about, something that makes me happy or makes me think, someone or something that has influenced me in different ways. For instance, when I visited Ireland a few years ago, the experience I had there is something I care so much about and it has affected me to such an extent that I want to write about it. The people in my life and the experiences I have had are topics that make me excited to write about.…

I write wanting to escape all the stress and negativity in my life. I write to communicate with my friends, family, coworkers, and boss. I write because I want to. I write from the comfort of my bed to the hardness of desk chairs. I…

I don't have much to say about writing for myself. Writing doesn't mean much to me. I am not a writer. I am an orator. However, writing does mean something to my wife. I love my wife. She loves to write. She spends hours a day writing. I watch words flow from her fingertips as she writes page after page. She doesn't let me read much of what she writes, but when she does, I can see the passion and the joy that she has for what she writes about. I wish that I could write with such a fire.…

A writer is what I aspire to be. You know when you're a kid and most of the other kids say they want to be a artist or an astronaut, but I wanted to be an author. I assumed this just because I had quality English grades and I had a strong interest in reading, but as I got older I found the power of words to be the best way to express myself. I learned to create stories that help people see things differently, that bring new ideas to my readers. Later I started to look back at the authors that changed my life, children’s authors such as Jan brett, and Kate Dicamillo taught me how to use creativity as a superpower.…
