Three Day Diet Study Essay
On my three-day diet study I consumed 2,213 calories, which is 93.2% of my DRI. I am basically maintaining my weight, without losing any. My Body Mass Index (BMI) is 23.4%, which is in the normal weight range. My lifetime weight history have always been normal. Before having a baby I weight a lot less, but my weight always fluctuated from 120 pounds to 130. After having my baby at 28, I gained weight and stayed at a much heavier side at 150. Three years after having my son, I decided to change my ways and ate healthier and exercised regularly. Then I lost weight and gained muscles and now weight 138. My weight until now fluctuates a few pounds more or less, it’s the way I’ve always been. I can say I am much healthier now that I have ever been, even If my body changed.

In my family we have a lot of diseases we have to worry about. Diabetes, high blood pressure, gout, heart problems and breast cancer are all in my family history. Always watching what I ate and what I put in my body, have kept me away from any of the diseases that are in my family. Like my dad and my eldest sister, they are the ones that have the most problems. My dad my have changed his ways of eating and he might not be overweight, but he has high blood pressure problem, heart problem, diabetes and gout. He did however told me in recent months that he felt a

The results for my new diet when compared to the recommendations from the SuperTracker are very bad indeed. I am not eating enough grains, vegetables, fruits, dairy or protein foods. An average for the amount of grains I consumed was 6 and a half ounces which is 2 servings each of these days. I consumed one and a half cup of fruits and vegetables which is about 2 servings on Saturday. I did not eat any other fruit during this three day period. I also consumed a quarter cup of dairy. From the proteins foods group, I consumed 2 and a half ounces and from the oils groups which is not a serving at all, but when this measured is about 2 teaspoons.…

    Metabolic Diet Essay

One of the challenges with most diets that are based on decreasing the total number of calories being consumed is sustaining a high metabolism. Our metabolism is responsible for burning through calories, but when the caloric content of our food is reduced, our bodies shift gears and decrease their calorie consumption. This results in that feeling of sluggishness and tiredness that is common among most dieters, meaning we become less efficient at burning calories. What a metabolic diet does is raise the metabolism to speed up the burning of calories, which equates to a faster weight loss rate. This method of dieting is much more effective than what essentially amounts to starving yourself. But if you are dieting to lose weight, how can you avoid…

My plan is to eat healthier and to lose weight so that my overall health improves. As I stated above, I am tracking my calories, proteins, fats, sugars, sodium, and carbohydrates each day. I have also been keeping track of my daily water intake. It is recommended that you drink 8 cups of water each day and I have been drinking about 5-6 cups of water a day. So, I do need to be consuming a bit more water each day. My daily calorie intake has been good; I have stayed under everyday but one since I started tracking my diet two weeks ago. Today I have…

After Looking over my family’s health history and the most common health problems that run in my family and looking at my current health status I was very surprised to find that the most common things were hypothyroidism, obesity and skin cancer. Those three conditions are what I may have to deal with in my future if I do not change my current lifestyle habits. Hypothyroidism is a condition that most of my female family members suffer from this condition in which it resulted in removal of their thyroids and taking an artificial hormone pill every day to compensate. Obesity is a problem that nearly everyone in my family suffers from even myself. Skin cancer is another common problem in my family the main reason…

    Calorie Intake

My calorie intake for the three days isn’t appropriate. I documented each item i ate, surprisingly it wasn't as high as I imagined it to be. I thought it would be a lot higher because I don’t watch what I eat like I should. My calorie intake should be about 2000 and it was around 2869 on day 1. Even though I went over 869 calories each calorie can affect the body. Calories will affect weight, health, and energy levels. If a person eats more than they burn they gain weight. Same if someone burns more than they eat they will lose wait. Just as if someone eats as much as they burn then they eat the weight will remain the same. If someone calorie intakes too low it may cause reduced muscle mass (Calorie Explained). If there are no food energy sources to keep the vital organs functioning it uses the muscle mass for energy, so it will make the person feel sluggish and tired. A high calorie diet puts stress on the body. It can increase the risk of diabetes, heart disease, and length of life. As I mentioned earlier about muscle mass the body mass index or BMI allows anyone to figure out their body mass according to their weight and height (Merriam Webster). My BMI is 17.5(Calculate Body Mass index). It is considered underweight, but I am still healthy a small frame runs in my family. However if it wasn't hereditary I would try to find way to boost my BMI to a normal range of 18.5.…
