My Paragraph that demonstrate these qualities
I am the president of the Haitian American Club at Edward R.Murrow High School. As you can see, I made this event called “The Survival Kit for Haiti Drive”-due to the effect of Hurricane Matthew. I had to spend one week working continuously on a pamphlet to post of the walls of my High School. Not only that, but I had to set up the event with my metaphorical boss Mr.Fleurimont at room 392.Although,most of the students in the Haitian American Club had to help me with this event. I had to work hard; to do all the documents to get this event known throughout my High School: by myself. I used the paint software in my computer

First and foremost, this would be the Haitian American Club;because,it was the first time I ever been the president of a Club. Moreover,I loved this Club because, I get to be in charge of my Haitian friends; as a extracurricular activity. I benefitted from the involvement by; knowing how it felt to have a presidential role of my Club. My responsibilities were that I had to prepare a Power Point Presentation every Monday, and work on associating myself with the school community. I was challenged; during the time I had to put a community service event (The Survival Kit For Haiti Drive) together at my High School.Secondly,I enjoyed being a mentor at the Brooklyn Public Library Flatbush Branch. During this activity I love to help mentor the children who are either in elementary school, or middle school. I benefitted in the involvement by; knowing how to work well with children below my age. My responsibility as a BPL Mentor; is that I had to advise, and help children from ages 5-14 become more proactive in their future. Under the presidency of S.A.D.D (Students Against Destructive Decisions) in my high school, I've conducted and lead many projects to help many organizations and even planned and coordinated many community service projects. But, out of the many project that the club and I have planned and created, I would have to state that I've projected my leadership role the most while our club and I went to Feeding South Florida for a field trip that I've planned. The reason why I state this is because, Feeding South Florida was a common place that many people knew, especially our members, and so before we got to the warehouse, I've explained the purpose Feeding South Florida stands for and the job that we would have to do there. When we got to the warehouse and began working, I would help the members and other volunteers carry boxes that were a bit heavy for them to carry and to help them understand how to sort the items that were donated to the warehouse into categorized boxes that they had provided to us. The purpose on why I led this project is because of the purpose behind Feeding South Florida, which is to collect, pack and send foods to the many shelters and food kitchens that they have provided in South Florida and working on this project created a positive effect on my life. The reason why I state this is because, while volunteering, it made me feel as if I was privileged.…

During my high school years approximately around my sophomore/ junior year my basketball team including I myself attended the Hoops for Haiti fundraiser that Meredith Elementary school hosted. Hoops for Haiti helps aid the disaster relief fund that is held in Haiti. Hundreds of elementary school children paid $5 each for a chance to play with not only Neumann-Goretti’s women’s basketball team but also the men’s team too. All proceeds were meant to go directly to rebuild and fund schools in Haiti. I decided to talk about this specific service that I participated in because not only was it fun but I got to interact with kids younger than me and was able to put smiles on their faces, those who were there and hopefully those in Haiti knowing that they do have people who care and want to help them out in every way possible.…

Chartering and being in charge of a club can be very rewarding, but there can also be a plethora of obstacles that have to be overcome. I am the president of the Best Buddies program – a program that seeks to increase interactions between people with and without special needs – at my high school, and I was the first person in my county to charter this program which was back when I was in the eighth grade. Being the President of this specific club is very challenging and unique: it requires you to work with a wide variety of students – in the mainstream setting and those with special needs – and those students’ parents. From these challenges, I learned the value of persistence and the importance of keeping to your word no matter what life…

Out of all the times that I used my leadership to help a group of people, there is one that stands out as clear as day to me. It would be the Great Shakeout Drill which millions of people practice how to drop, cover, and hold on during drills. By participating with the Community Emergency Response Team club in this drill, it is a great way to be prepared to survive and recover quickly from big earthquakes wherever one is at. This leads me to have a positive influence on others as it gave me insight as to what I can take from this experience and learn from it in a positive angle. Firstly, it gave me a sense of being a leader to everyone on campus as leading students and teachers where to go when an emergency happens. By doing this, it gave me…

Apart from the Toby Keith Foundation Teen Board and the Junior Rotarian Club, I have volunteered with various other organizations such as the Red Cross, Moore Food and Resource Center and the OCARTA Wellness Hub. I have chosen to dedicate my time to these community service activities because I know that a small effort can go a big way in changing other's lives. Along with community service activities, I have also dedicated my time within my Latino community. I have attended numerous leadership conferences aimed at Hispanic students, including the Hispanic Youth Leadership Conference at the Oklahoma City University and the TREE Conference at the University of Oklahoma. I was also selected to attend the Latinos Without Borders Fall Camp at the University of Oklahoma. Attending all of these events have changed my life, because I have learned how to fight the barriers that plague my community and culture. It is important to me to be involved within my cultural community because I believe in order for a community to prosper, its members have to become aware of the problems within their community and work to better…

Club, which has taught me a lot of different skills, but the biggest skill that I feel most affected me in learning is taking action. Every year in H.O.P.E. we would decide to raise money and awareness for a different cause. My freshman year we decided to buy life straws for people in need in different countries. We got to witness how the life straws works by putting a lot of dirty water in a container and the drinking it with the life straw. During my sophomore year we decide to get a hydration station for the elementary and middle school kids. I really loved this experience because I still remember how excited the kids were to get their turn on filling up their canteens. It felt really good being able to educate the kids about recycling and using canteens instead of water bottles, so they use less plastic bottles. During junior year we raised money to help give a jungle gym to G3. This year we decided that we wanted to give money to make a well for people that have to walk miles just to get fresh water. The H.O.P.E. Club has really helped me learn that anyone can take action on problems in the world that are big or small. We just have to dedicate time and effort to get things…
