As you are well aware of the fact that your daughter Antigone has gone against your ruling and buried Polyneices, and that you have condemned her to death. I am writing this letter to strongly urge against the death of your daughter.
Antigone is your daughter, and Polyneices is your son. Although Polyneices has killed your son Etocles, you have to remember that Etocles has also killed your son Polyneices. They are both at fault in this massacre, so why should you only punish, or honor, one of them? What you do to one of them, you should do to both of them. In other words, you should honor both of them. As for your daughter Antigone, she is your own family. Does family really come after your kingship? All she was trying to do was honor her own brother, your own son. "I must honor not the living, but the dead. For I will spend a longer time with them." These are Antigone's own words, and they couldn't be more right.
So in conclusion, I strongly urge against the death of your daughter. Not only because what she did was the right thing to do, but because she is family. Two of your sons have died at the hands of each other, do you really want your daughter, another family member, to die at your hands?
