Thesis For The Alchemist
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is one of my favorites books. The author wrote a story where the main character named Santiago chases his destiny. The thesis of The Alchemist is that our paths to the future are already written. The purpose of life is to achieve a balance between the current situation and your destiny. Santiago is fighting to find his purpose in life which is represented in the story by the treasure that he is looking for. This book is an excellent example of perseveration, and not matter what could appear in our destiny we can not give up our dreams and goals.

Another great book that I had enjoyed is The Shack by William Paul Young. This book reflects love and compassion. God loves for humanity and human beings, love for one

My favorite reading is the poem “On Being Brought from Africa to America” by Phillis Wheatley and her biography. I found her life to be extraordinary. She lived a tragic life, but was successful in her work and kept a strong faith in God. She was brought to America at a very young age as a slave. I cannot imagine how frightened she must have been leaving her homeland and being taken by strangers. However, in her poem she came to reconcile with it and thought that it was by the grace of God that she was brought to America. Wheatley had three children, two died because of health issues and she and the third one died together still living in poverty. Even with the ups and downs she went through in life, she was determined to make a difference…

Of the two books, my personal favorite was Their Eyes Were Watching God, by Zora Neale Hurston. It was a story told from a third-person perspective, integrating the thoughts, feelings, as well as actions of all the characters in each of the book’s chapters. I greatly enjoyed this story, for it was quite a rollercoaster of sorts, as it took the reader deeper and deeper into the arduous life of Janie Crawford.…

In 1913, a Danish physicist named Niels Bohr put Rutherford's findings together with the observed spectra to come up with a new model of the atom in a real leap of intuition. I believe that the Bohr’s model of atom explains well about the atomic theory, because in his experiments it is shown and explained the structure of an atom. His famous suggestion is about that the electrons orbit around the nucleus of an atom. Bohr experimented with atomic spectrum that proved his suggestion.…

In the story The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho, the author uses the theme, “individuals should always follow their dreams,” to teach the reader lessons about life. When Santiago is with the crystal merchant, the crystal merchant reveals his unfulfilled dream to go on a religious pilgrimage to Mecca. People of different classes and cultures all traveled to Mecca to fulfill their dreams. “All who went there were happy at having done so.”(55) All these people followed their dreams which led to happiness. They didn’t let anything, like being poor, stop them. If they allowed something to stop them, they could have ended up like the crystal merchant who has not accomplished his dream, and doesn’t have anything to look back on and be happy about. Santiago followed his dream and became truly happy with his life. When individuals follow their dreams, finally fulfilling it isn’t the only important part; the journey along the way can be just as valuable. While Santiago searched for his treasure, he learned many lessons of significance.…

Throughout The Alchemist, readers see a clear view of how they are to discover the meaning of life. The first is by discovering their personal legend. People are supposed to go out and seek their life’s destiny. The second is by defeating fear. There is nothing to fear but fear itself. We shouldn’t worry about the past or future. In fact, we should be focusing on the present. When we take the focus off of our fears we begin to focus on the present and realize what we’ve been missing. Paulo Coelho portrays two main themes throughout The Alchemist: pursue your personal legend and dangers come when you fear.…
