There Third Party Logistics Service
There third party logistics service providers(3PLs) are experts in the management and flow of freight, allowing customers to focus their resources on other activities. Some of these larger organizations provide a one-stop shopping solution where customers can purchase all their transportation service needs, regardless of mode or geographic requirements. Types of 3PL providers While many 3PLs promote themselves as integrated service providers with a comprehensive range of logistics activity.Hence, the easiest way to categorize these service providers is on the basis of their foundation based, forwarder based, financial based,or information based firms. Each of these is discussed briefly in the following paragraphs. Transportation Based These 3PL trace their origins to freight movement via truck, rail,.air,or other modes of transportation. Distribution Based These 3PL suppliers originated from the public or contract warehousing business and have expanded into a broader range of logistics services. Forwarder Based This group of 3PLs includes freight forwarders, brokers, and agents that primary facilitate the flow of goods on behalf of customers. Financial Based This category of 3PL providers helps customers with monetary issues and financial flows in the supply chain. Information Based The internet has provided an excellent platform for the growth of information based 3PL. Asset Based providers When a 3PL owns many or all of the assets necessary to run its customers’ transportation and logistics activities,it is known as an asset based provider. Non-Asset Based Providers When a 3PL contracts with other firms to provider transportation and logistics services rather than owning the required equipment and facilities,it is called a non-asset based provider.

This paper describes the approach that DHL used to respond to aggressive revenue and profit targets set by its Asia-Pacific regional management board. DHL’s reaction to these targets was to redefine its strategic service vision by systematically aligning its internal support functions with distinct buyer behavior structures. Specifically, we developed a model based on the tangible and intangible factors that directly influence a customer’s choice of a third-party logistics provider. Next, we reverse engineered the service provider’s delivery system to align with each customer’s preferred buying behavior. DHL’s share of wallet and profitability immediately improved, enabling the company to maintain its leading position in the market. Quantitative and qualitative results show an improvement in DHL’s market share, customer satisfaction scores, and employee opinion survey results. Key words: third-party logistics; service concept; survey research; discrete choice modeling; latent class segmentation. It is a logistics service provider as the company operates as a freight forwarder in a dynamic and profitable new sector. John (p154) indicated that freight forwarders are just like high-street travel agents, except that they arrange transportation for freight, not people. With the development of regonal trade agreements increasingly freight can move freely within regions, thus obviationg the need for customs clearance for the freight. Freight forwarders have thus broadened out their product portfolio to encompass many other activities.…

As per given, TNT is the largest independent logistics company in the world (4pl). (4pl) means a forth party logistics is neutral and will manage the logistics process, regardless of what carriers, forwarders, or warehouses are used. The 4PL can and will even manage 3PLs that the customer is already currently using. Many 4PLs have addressed the huge requirements of electronic interface between numerous companies exactly as TNT logistics. The (3pl) mentioned above stands for third party logistics, and that is to involve using external organizations to execute logistics activities that have traditionally been performed within an organization itself. According to this definition, third-party logistics includes any form of outsourcing of logistics activities previously performed in house. For example, if a company with its own warehousing facilities decides to employ external transportation, this would be an example of third-party logistics. Logistics is an emerging business area in many countries. Whereas the concept of a fourth-party logistics (4PL) assembles the resources, planning capabilities, and technology of its own organization and other organizations to design, build, and run comprehensive supply chain…
