There Are Pros And Cons To Our Current Modern Society
There are pros and cons to our current modern society. The pros that I identify of modern society include the following quality of life, Freedom, technology, and education. Quality of life includes family, friends, happiness, love, self-confidence and sense of worth. Freedom includes freedom of speech as well as freedom of choice. Technology is important to society in ways of advancement, mass production, and efficiency. Education is a vital part of our society because of the vast opportunities for learning knowledge and advancement. The cons that I identify of modern society include the following greed, judgmental people and taxes. Greed is the want versus the need; we are a society of always wanting more what we have. Because of this society has become very materialistic. Judgmental people of modern society of come off as being judgmental, closed minded, biased, prejudiced and those then lead to bullying as well as domestic violence. Taxes are unequal and unfair to the middle and upper classes My interpretation of the song “Society” by Eddie Vedder includes the following negativity, greed, pessimism and conformity. The songwriter feels trapped, controlled, restricted in his environment. The song appears to be conceded and self-centered. He desires more and more is never enough. My interpretation of the song “Born Free” by Kid rock includes the following Liberty, Freedom and unselfishness. The songwriter feels free with no boundaries, limitations or expectations. He is humble and calm and appears to have an understanding of the important things in life. The song “Born Free” relates to my positive views of modern society and the song “society” relates to my negative views of society. The perspectives of songwriters are their true reality and freedom.
