During the orientation phase of my interaction with the client, I requested the client to write down three (3) things that he could give to himself as gifts (realistic and unrealistic). The client came up with three dreams/goals that he wants for himself; to have two children, to marry his girlfriend, and get a stable job to support his family. This may lead to the prevention for another suicide attempt in the future.
d. What ethical dilemmas (if any) were encountered by yourself and/or the treatment team in providing care to this client, and how were they resolved? If you were assigned this client again, knowing what you know now, in what ways would you change your approach?
I did not encounter any ethical dilemma when I provided care to this client; however, if I were assigned to this client again I will focus on the establishment of therapeutic client-nurse relationship in order to be able to support client’s strength that will contribute to the development of his self-worth, and the strengthening of his spirituality. His numerous suicide attempts are evidences that he’s spiritually distress.
e. What cultural issues and personal biases emerged during your work with this client and how did you resolve?
I did not have any cultural and personal biases that emerged during my service with this client. As a Christian nurse, I believe that God expected me to serve my clients in a nonjudgmental
