Theme Of Loss Of Innocence In Lord Of The Flies
Loss of innocence is when a child losses childhood mentality of harmlessness and learning and discovering the challenges you have to face as an adult. This loss is often the main or minor theme in many novels. One major novel that has a theme of loss of innocence is Lord of the Flies by William Golding. The book is about an aircraft that crashes onto an uncharted island. There are no adults that survived, only young boys from the age of six to twelve. They must try to find a way to stay alive long enough to be rescued if they even get rescued. Over time the reader can notice that the young boys are turning into young men. The reader can track the change in the main character, Ralph, through the whole novel.
