A Leadership Curriculum for College Students assert that deontological originates from the Greek word “deos” or “duty” (p.9-4). Action is viewed as ethical in the deontological approach when action itself is appropriate. Instances include “telling the truth, keeping promises, being fair, and respecting others” (A Leadership Curriculum for College Students, 9-4). Additionally, the action is determined by a duty to perform the action. Thus, the theory emphasises the actions of leaders and their ethical responsibility to do what is appropriate.”…

In the article “Mentoring Relationships and Programs for Youth,” the authors discuss the growing rate of peer mentoring programs such as Big Brother Big Sisters of America, as well as discuss prior research done on the way in which peer mentoring groups are conducted. The Authors discussed the findings of DuBois and Silverthorn which concluded that having a peer mentor lead to success in education and work, mental health, problem behavior, and health later in life. Studies conducted after DuBois and Silverthorn concluded that the difference in behavior between adolescents who have mentor and adolescents who do not, is relatively ineffective. These studies also show that once these relationships end, the behavior of the adolescent goes back…

Primary Leadership Development Program (PLDP), which replaces the PO1 [petty officer 1st class] LTC. Those are Sailors, E-5 or E-6, to be assigned leadership roles and responsibilities for the planning and execution of divisional functions, to include the professional and personal growth of personnel within that division (e.g., positions such as leading petty officer, squad leader, assistant platoon commander, etc). Again, previous completion of the PO1 LTC satisfies leadership development requirements for PLDP position assignments.…

The Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) conference is a substantial experience and I am honored to have been considered to be given the opportunity to attend the conference. Settling upon one individual student is a daunting decision to make especially since everyone selected are perspicuous and clever individuals, but I can assure you that choosing me to attend RYLA is the right choice. Deciding on me is not only beneficial to myself but also to my city, state, county and the people around me.…

Peer Assistance Leadership (PALs) is a program where students that are involved in this club get to partner up with a disabled student. They get to know each other, they learn to interact with one another, and they grow together. This is a great extracurricular that should be a part of every school in the U.S. but it is not. Many people do not understand the importance of allowing disabled students interact with regular students. This program is really "effective and efficient" that it is a great opportunity that shouldn’t be pass up. It is available "in over 1000 elementary, middle and high schools in Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, and Washington."…

ABSTRACT This assessment paper digs deep into the dynamics of peer coaching (PC) in developing leadership and managerial competency. It relates my experience and performance as a participant in the peer coaching scheme set up under the managerial effectiveness course unit of Curtin university school of business. In this PC process, I was a peer coach to Simpson and I acted both as a coach and coachee (Thorn; McLeod; Goldsmith 2007).The overview of my experience, performance and learning points are succinctly unwrapped in this paper. Also unearthed, is how the process provided me with good structures to anchor my development plan of building competency in the proper employment of participative decision-making (PDM) skill, one of the prerequisite skills towards moulding an altogether effective managerial and capable leadership skill sets which this course seeks to achieve for me. The final part of this assessment paper expounds the experiential learning principle with an attachment to peer coaching scheme and how it impacts on building competency in managerial effectiveness.…

When I was younger I would have been described as shy and reserved. I was like an un-blossomed flower. My life has since changed drastically. Many opportunities came across me such as taking a cruise with family and business friends, being nominated to be a Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) 7170 member of 2015 at SUNY Oneonta, and being chosen to go to a National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF) for Medicine in Boston 2015 at Babson College.…

I have always aspired to be somebody others can look up to. Whether it is at work as a supervisor, in school as a student council member, in church as a Junior Youth leader and VBS instructor, or in sports as a captain and coach, I have always strived to be excellent and to encourage others to achieve the same. Teaching and leading have always been two strengths of mine. Growing up I remember how all my coaches and leaders impacted myself in such a positive way, I wanted to give back to my community and support my church by helping out in any way I could.…
