The Work Of Pablo Ruiz Picasso
Pablo Ruiz Picasso was born in Málaga, Spain on October 25, 1881. Both his parents believed he was a still-born, and were going to presume him a failed pregnancy. However one of the doctors present at the delivery did not give up in reviving Picasso. The lone doctor managed to resuscitate Picasso by blowing cigar smoke into his nostrils, making him cough and take his first breath. (BOOK 1) His father, Don Jose Ruiz was a painter and he quickly saw signs of his son following the same path. To ensure that his son would become a successful painter, Picasso’s father became his first teacher, and had him studying art at the age of 11. However, this was not the only thing to come out from the advancement of the world. In 1914 the Great War had erupted, because of the conflict between Germany and Austria-Hungary quickly intensified when the Archduke of Austria was assassinated. During this time Picasso was working under the style of Synthetic Cubism. In this form of Cubism, he used wallpaper and newspaper to create a collage in his art work. After the war Picasso left Cubism and went back to traditional styles in the early 1920s. He created a different alterative of classicism using mythological creatures such as centaurs and nymphs. Picasso then created a series of painting that had themes of anti-war, because of the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War in 1936. During the second Great War, Picasso remained living in France despite the heavy control Germany had over the country. It is said that the Nazi’s left him alone, but he was constantly bothered by Gestapos because of his art. Picasso’s art style did not follow the guidelines of the Nazi’s definition of Art, so he was unable to put his paintings in any exhibits in France. Although he was unable to show case his art, Picasso did spend most of his time in oppressed France writing. He mostly wrote about erotic poems, but he also wrote to plays that were later preformed after the
