the white dress
Where am I? It’s as though my memory has been erased. I know I’m a young girl, but my age is still a mystery to me. All I seem to remember is how I entered this house, or atleast I think that’s what it is.. I’m alone, and having nothing.

It was a Friday night, I was going to a party with a few friends. I was running down the dark street. I felt both nervous and excitement run through my body. Suddenly, I tripped over a crack in the footpath. I hit the ground hard and just lay there for what felt like hours. Suddenly I look up to see if my friends are waiting for me, but to my surprise no one is insight. I’m both confused and terrified as to where they disappeared to. But it wasn’t just my friends that had disappeared, I was surrounded by nothing, even the buildings have disappeared.

I remember standing there, hoping this is just a crazy dream, or nightmare and that when I wake up everything will be ok. All though I know deep down this is no dream. I walk down the silent road, and through the fog I see what I think is a house. I move in closer towards it and can easily see that it’s an old, large house, it was the only thing around, my only hope. I walk towards the door, chills running up my spine. I give it a tap and almost immediately the door flings open. But who opened it? There was no one there. Cautiously I walk in. I hear a loud screeching noise behind me. I quickly turn around to see the door has closed. The house is empty, except for a huge mirror t my right, but as I look at it I see a reflection, but it’s not me. It’s a pale girl wearing an old white dress. Suddenly a loud scream comes from the mirror, I turn and run, terrified. I push through the door, but instead of being outside I find myself in another room, alone.

I was alone, or atleast I thought I was. I hear a soft tapping noise behind me. I turn around to see the girl again. I walk up to her, my body shaking uncontrollably. I touch her, she disappears and everything went black.

I woke up a while later, this is all I remember. I look down at my clothes to see that I’m also dressed in a long white dress. Am I a ghost? I don’t know. Is this I dream I’ll suddenly wake up from? Or is it my fate. I guess I’ll have to wait a little longer for that girl to return to answer my questions. Until then I’m trapped and alone…

A slight breeze blew throughout the dandy forest, swaying the stiff lifeless trees and blowing the black stained leaves across my bare white feet. As I stumbled across the dead landscape, a slight fog swam around blending in with the increasingly falling snow. Hundreds of dark wood surrounding me seemed to slowly cave in, creating a narrow cave-like passage. An eerie feeling swept over me, and I stopped completely, analysing every detail around me. The smog became thicker, blinding the scenery and almost completely covering my vision. I sensed an inhuman presence watching me, and flinched whenever a snapping sound came from a faraway distance. I slowly turned around and began pacing in the direction I came from. The fog smothered me but I kept running,…

My eyes snap open and the image of a room slowly focuses into my vision. I look around wondering where I am and become aware of a loud shrill noise. Then I remember, this is my place now, this is where I live and that clock needs to stop beeping. Slowly I get out of bed and look into the mirror asking myself the same question as I always do, "Why am I getting up, its not like there is anything for me to do." My room is nothing like I remember it from last night. Last night I had strewn the clothes I was wearing all about the room and sequentially thrashed it by everywhere looking form my pajamas that I somehow never seem to find. Now, my room is all clean. At least the clothes had provided some color to…

Out of nowhere the building shook and continued to shake. What’s happening I keep asking myself and then scream start to fill and congest my mind, the view from the window covered with thick dark smoke. All of sudden I can almost smell death. I rush out the room to see what the cause of this is and what’s going on and my head become more and more bloated with screams and the emotion of fear. I gaze outside the window and I just stand there and think. How do I get myself out of this? I kept asking myself this and wondered and wondered. I quickly ran the fastest as I could, finding a hiding spot, like a bunny would do as if it was being chased by something. I ran back into the woods, making eye contact with the raccoons as I ran. I made a slight turn to the nearest tree, and hoped the rabid raccoons wouldn't find me. I saw them keep on running in the direction that they were chasing me before. I couldn't see anything still, but all I saw was the bright, burning hot sun, rising. I knew it was going to take a while for the sun to rise completely, maybe 4 or 6 hours, I wasn't sure. But what I did know is that I had to find my way out of here for sure. It was still dark, but the clouds were cloudy as if everything was still dark. I started running back to the bridge. I heard tiny…

Thinking nothing about it we proceeded with the conversations and laughter. But in a few short moments the laughter suddenly stopped and turned directly into frantic shouts. The guard rail crunched as we barreled straight through it and over the edge of the bridge. So many thoughts raced through my mind in that short time of the fall, but I remember what I saw when I opened my eyes…black. I felt dizzy and helpless, until I noticed that I was the lucky one. I quickly ran to the crushed car to check on my friends, who had not been thrown from the vehicle. As I got to the car, the doors were crushed shut and my only option was to break the window in a last attempt effort to save my friends. As I got one friend out I carried him up the side to the highway. As I got to the top, a vehicle slowed to a stop as he saw were in trouble and covered with blood. I handed my friend off to the good Samaritan and franticly got back down to the car. As the sirens and lights filled the night sky I pulled my other friend out of what was left of the car. As I got him on the ground, I was met by the rescue team sent to help us. They helped me up the side of the bridge and to the ambulance. As the paramedics pulled the body bags over my friends faces, the…
