The Walking Dead (323 words)
By Michelle Deleon
A sheriff’s deputy by the name of Rick Grimes cautiously walks out of his vehicle amongst vacant cars scattered everywhere on the road. Slowly pacing himself, he continues to walk through the calamity of bashed windows, rotting bodies, and tarnished things. There was no one. Not a sound in the wind and not a soul in sight. He suddenly hears scuffling of feet coming from somewhere. Pausing in his tracks, he gently sets his hat down and leans under a car to get a better look. There, a pair of dirty feet shuffles away. He jumps up and tries to stop the young girl as she drags a soiled teddy bear through the rough road. He calls her to stop again. The young girl stops. Turning her body slowly, the deputy catches a glance at her face. Pale white skin tarnished with blood drizzling down her absent jaw and blood shot eyes that pierce through his soul. She starts to walk towards him, faster and faster, to the point where she’s charging at him. The deputy fumbles to pull his gun out and BAM! The Walking Dead TV series begins with a bang in 2010. After successfully airing two seasons, The Walking Dead has won an Emmy for Outstanding Prosthetic Make-up, a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Television Series, and numerous other awards. The show is based off a comic book series taking place in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse where Rick and other survivors try to find safe haven from the hordes of “walkers” who savagely devour whatever they seize and infect people with their bite. The plot is focused primarily on the dilemmas the group faces as they struggle to balance their humanity with their survival against the zombies, how they cope with members being killed and deal with other human survivors they encounter in the attempt to rebuild a fallen

Now obviously nobody has woken up in a zombie filled world now but that sense of family is something viewers can connect with. Having that family first mentality is a great way to draw viewers in. The characters themselves are also easy to connect with. The most recent season finale has caused major controversy amongst viewers. The episode ends with Negan killing off one of the original survivors of group, but the identity of the survivor is a mystery. Some Walking Dead fans are so upset they claim to never watch the show again and bash the producers. It is very easy for viewers to connect with characters and makes it that much more interesting.…

The myth of zombies has been debated for centuries and has brought about insane creative ideas about the unknown. Over time creative geniuses have looked to share their thoughts on the zombie myth through video games, comic books and television shows. One of the newest television shows that depicts a post-apocalyptic world filled with zombies is AMC’s The Walking Dead. The setting of The Walking Dead takes place in a world in which a massive, fatal, and gore filled disease has killed a majority of civilization on earth and has forsaken whomever that is left to fight to survive against the flesh eating, walking zombies and the other people that are also trying to live. The very first episode, “Days Gone Bye”, allows the audience to share the introduction to the post-apocalyptic world with the main character of the show, Rick Grimes, and build a strong bond between the audience and Rick Grimes because it is both of their first experiences with the new world.…

Carol starts out in The Walking Dead, a popular TV show, as soft-spoken and defenseless. She is abused by her husband, Ed, who eventually dies from being bitten by a zombie. Carol’s daughter, Sophia, is also soft-spoken, fearful, and defenseless like her mother, which is the cause of her turning into a zombie and eventually being killed. After Ed and Sophia died, Carol became independent and realistic. She knows that the world is a cruel place and must survive any way possible.…

This show is now up to its sixth season. It basically all about a man named Rick Grimes trying to lead a group of survivors in a world of zombies. The show was first aired on Oct 31st of 2010.It amazes me how the zombies are just now falling apart and dying as soon as they hit a wall hard enough. Makes you wonder why they haven’t all died off already it’s been about 1-2 years the bodies should of decomposed. Or at least looking deader besides looking like they just turned a week or two ago. Here is an overview of season 1. In the first episode you see a man running around in a hospital trying to find an escape from what ever was making him scared and panicked, a couple seconds later you see what it was he was running away from which was about 3-4 zombies at a steady pace following him. The guy then runs into a room and you see another person on a bed looking alright he tries to get his friend up but there was no response. As he was still in a coma, he reluctantly leaves his friend behind and barricades the room up so if he did ever wake up hopefully he would be safe from the zombies lurking about. The guy on the bed wakes up very confused to where he is and what was happening he explores around even more confused now since the whole place is deserted he comes up to this door that says “don’t open, dead inside” he looks at it a bit more then walks off as soon as he walks off you are shown…

In the first two episodes, Gimple and his writers have managed to make more backstory from a number of characters, even if it’s done with minimal screen time. What has made The Walking Dead so compelling as a series is that it transcends the genre. It’s not really a show about zombies so much as it’s a show about the living, Being able to breath, to allow characters to do more than just creatively eviscerate the skulls of zombies, is what makes it unique.…

"The Walking Dead" has become a cultural phenomena with hordes of fans and a huge online following, but more can be gleaned from this literal horror show than pure entertainment. The show gives the audience a possible scenario for what life would become in a situation in which survival is the number one goal. There are no more 9 to 5 jobs, mortgages are no longer a concern, and passing that math exam in second period is never going to happen, so that leaves finding food, shelter, and simply living to see another day.…

The film, Dead Man Walking was made in 1995, and was adopted from Sister Helen Prejean 's 1993 autobiographical book, which has the same title. It examines one of the most highly debated controversial issues of our time - capital punishment. Since the protagonist of a film is regarded as the "good guy," I would apply this label to Sister Helen Prajean, played by Susan Sarandon, and that of the antagonist, or the "bad guy" to Matthew Poncelet, played by Sean Penn. However, even though Sean Penn is definitely the "bad guy," by definition, my feelings changed as the film progressed with Sean 's eventual understanding of the "enormity of his transgression." (Rozan, 17) The story presented in the film attracts the viewer because of the strong emotions, which are evoked by the violence of the murder and rape, but also by the actors themselves.…

Default individualization is a path which someone can follow by accepting personally bounding identities which are socially accepted. Basically each person accepting the same identity of that of the person right next to them. By not being their own individual, these identities may possibly delay growth into adulthood. Things in life happen by default for these people, whatever happens just happens, and it is not planned out or thought of to any extent. This individualization does not stimulate growth as a person, because one can just look onto others (whose are actions, choices, and behaviors are socially accepted) to choose their life choices. Or someone can choose a path of developmental individualization. They can easily have their own personal identity apart and different from any others. People can actively have a well thought out plan to change your life for the better and to maintain this plan for life improvement in the adult world…

Audiences these days are fascinated with the idea of how life would be if something on an apocalyptic scale would occur. One of these would be “The Walking Dead”, a TV series about life after an outbreak of a new disease that turns people into flesh hungry reanimated corpses and how life dramatically changes after the this disease was released.…
