However, the founder of the theory recognizes that there are other external factors that may contribute to the interaction of plants and pests. These factors include the plant adaptation, abiotic factors and management practices.
The theory of Francis Chaboussou foresees the agriculture sector to shift from better management of crops production by paying attention to its proper needs. (Chaboussou as cited by Paull 2007).
The above mentioned theories relay in the study since it focused on managing the soil nutrients through correct usage and application of fertilizers and pesticides. Despite of the large number of countries producing this commodity, it was noted that it is not enough to feed humanity where 850 million people might suffer from hunger. In 2001, more than 3 billion people consumed 517.9 million tons of rice out of a total production of 580 million tons. (Solh, 2005).
The agriculture sector is concerned in ensuring the availability of food supply for the humanity. It covers the health of consumers as well as the attainment of sustainable agriculture. For this reason, several policies were passed by government officials along agriculture sector. One of this is the Republic Act 8435 also known as the Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Act of 1997. It envisions to promote food security. The crops grown in this method are free from fertilizers and pesticides, making the product of high quality. The outcome of this could make farmers compete in the global community, especially in the ASEAN communities and paramount solution in the farmland degradation.
Understanding the amount of rice produced in the country, particularly in the Province of Ilocos Sur could be a great help. This is a key in understanding the potential of the province in providing the needs of the local community that is constantly growing. Agriculturists are able to estimate the amount of rice needed for a period of time in the future. Likewise, it may help also in understanding reasons that may affect a great loss of crops.     Rice is the staple food for 65% of the population in India. It is the largest consumed calorie source among the food grains. With a per capita availability of 73.8 kg it meets 31% of the total calorie requirement of the population. India is the second largest producer of rice in the world next to China.
