What Macbeth means by “supernatural soliciting” is the witches appearing and telling him that he will be king and he’s Thane of Cawdor. The soliciting doesn’t appear to be bad but it doesn’t appear to be good either. He questions the witch's actions. He knows he’s thane of cawdor, Thane of Glamis, & will become king. The image of the ‘horrid image doth unfix my hair and make my seated heart knock at my ribs” (1,3,143-149). This means that he is shocked about this news. It also makes him distance himself from reality. His heart is pounding and his hair is sticking up, representing anxiety and his caution about his future of becoming king.…

The motif of appearance versus reality is used in multiple places throughout The Tragedy of Macbeth. It appears in many forms; deception, irony, murder, etc. However, perhaps its most startling development occurs in the personality swap between Macbeth and his wife, Lady Macbeth. Macbeth begins as an honest man who feels tremendous horror when asked to commit murder, and Lady Macbeth begins as a power hungry wife who will not let anyone get in the way of her husband’s pursuit of the crown. By the end of the play, Macbeth has become a murderously paranoid dictator and Lady Macbeth goes mad with guilt.…

Where is he? He is never late! It couldn't of taken him this long. He has left me here, impatiently striding up and down this ridiculously tiny room. He's done this on purpose, leaving me anxious, worried, but at the same time a little bit excited. Me, Lady Macbeth, I have managed to wrap a man around my little finger. A woman? I know this is wrong but the devilish feeling has climbed into my stomach, like your nervous, but excited. Almost as though your about to put on a performance, but in reality, this is much worse.…
The fantastical and grotesque witches are several of the most memorable figures in the play. How does Shakespeare portray the witches both in the book, and in the movie? How are they important to the play?…
The supernatural reflected the atmosphere and the beliefs of Scotland and much of Europe in the sixteenth century. Macbeth is a story that is completely engulfed with supernatural elements. It is more a supernatural story than it is drama. Madness, mayhem and horror are all words that best describe this play. Three hideous witches, a floating dagger and apparitions are all supernatural elements that the reader finds in Macbeth. Most importantly, these elements are major causes of Macbeths path of ambition, murder madness and his ultimate downfall. As the story progresses we see the supernatural events change location starting from the witches cavern to Macbeths castle. All this shows that Macbeth is highly dependent and seduced by the supernatural.…

Shirley Jackson deals with an important human issue in her short story, the lottery. The person who is stoned is selected through a ballot but all the way through the story you think that the lottery will result in something good like a prize, but the reality is much different.…
Some people can be a completely different person outside and inside. Many will act in a particular way to fit and be accepted but when apart from their group they are their own person. Overall at the end of the day people take their masks off and show their true colors. This is what happened with some of the characters in William Shakespeare's Macbeth. This showed on Macbeth, Banquo and Lady Macbeth. We’ll see how these characters have images that alter as the story goes on.…
The subject I will be focusing on is faith. The definition of means “belief that is not based on proof.” The way Interpret the definition is what comes around, goes around. I see Macbeth making a mistake where he lets it all go to his head. I believe in karma will get to him. Macbeth knows that it will come and that is what is holding him back. I think that Macbeth is trying to avoiding reality because if we was once then during evil someone could end up killing him. I would also like to add to my predictions that Macbeth's hallucinations will get worse and Lady Macbeth will be the first one to spot it. Lady Macbeth will say something like you need to get head in order or else we will be caught. I feel that Lady Macbeth will threaten him and…
