1) The spike of suicides after a celebrity’s is likely due to individuals following a role model’s footsteps. Many people who are depressed, stressed, or feeling socially isolated think of committing suicide without following through. Once a celebrity, a classmate, coworker, or someone nearby completes the act it seems to be more feasible to those who may have once told themselves it was impossible.
2) I agree with the censorship of reporting suicides and overdoses. Seeing that a celebrity is found dead on the front page of a newspaper or as a news report draws much less attention to the cause of death and the and makes the death itself more important. Keeping suicide as the cause of death in the main report doesn’t bring as much attention;
