The stories “The Sniper” and “Cranes” are two very similar but yet different stories. “The Sniper,” was written by Liam O’Flaherty, the story is about a republican sniper trying to get out of a civil war ,in Ireland, in the end the sniper succeeds in sniping the enemies sniper but learns it’s his brother. “Cranes,” is written by Hwang Sunwōn and is about a man, named Sōngsam, and his old pal, Tōkche, heading to the jail, and on there way cranes appear and Sōngsam lets Tōkche go.
