The Shack Research Paper

Now, I’ve been driving past the South Lamar branch for a while now, and keep thinking that I need to try it. This review has given me the perfect excuse. We decided to visit for dinner.

The night was dark, and chilly, but Shake Shack was lit up like a Christmas tree. I would credit most of this to the floor-to-ceiling windows. I was able to look in as we drove past, and saw families and friends dining and having a blast. I couldn’t wait.

Unfortunately, we had to park in a garage and walk through the cold weather to get there, but in the end, it was definitely worth it. At least it was warm inside. Some restaurants are always either too cold or too hot, but the Shack was pleasantly warm. We were immediately greeted by

The were singing along to some music playing, and laughing and joking. They probably would have been more serious if more people were there, but there was only us and a few other tables of people in the place. Overall, there was a great feeling/vibe at Shake Shack. It’s definitely the kind of place you’ll want to visit again.

After sitting down by the window with waters and our pager (their ordering system), we noticed how beautiful the view was. Even though it was night, we could see out across South Lamar and past, over houses and hills to downtown Austin. It was an amazing view, and we were all glad that we chose to sit next to the window. We were even happier, however, when our food came. At least I was.

When our pager buzzed, my dad and I jumped up and walked to the delivery counter to get our food. It all came on a tray, wrapped up and looking delicious. The fries came in little baskets as well. needless to say, we were all excited. As we began passing out the food, I noticed something. There were four burgers on the tray (see above image), but five of us. They had forgotten my

We got it all sorted out, though, and I walked away in a minute or two with my aroma-radiating burger. Once I had gotten my burger, we all dug in. My first bite was that of heavenliness. The patty was large but not too thick, and was full of juicy goodness. The bacon was perfectly crisp, with a hearty mouthwatering flavor. There was just enough cheese so that it all fit together flawlessly. Shake Shack had done a great job on the burgers. Now, time for the fires.

These, I was particularly excited for. I had seen good reviews of them online, and seen pictures, but hadn’t actually tasted them before. Now was my chance. I snatched one from the basket closest to me, dipped it in bright red ketchup, and popped it in my mouth. My first though? Superb. These Shake shack fries were some of the best I have ever had, and will most likely stay that way. They had the perfect crunch, and the perfect yellow/golden color. It's like the Shake Shack people prayed to the food god or whatever to come down and bless their fries with eternal deliciousness. That’s how good they were.

I was definitely surprised with how good our main course was. Now, on to

The servers were unprofessional and heard talking loud in the waitress station about inappropriate things. The wait wasn’t too long which was good, but the attitude towards the customers just gave an uncomfortable, sketchy feeling. It’s pretty sad that DC’s has such a bad name because of their atmosphere and service now being that the Cobb’s are family friends. Also, one eye catcher was when a table walked in of African American people, the servers made it entirely too noticeable that they did not want that table making racist remarks about them not tipping. That was the final straw. It’s sad to see that they still get a little business with attitudes like that. I, myself am a server and would never in a million years be as unprofessional and rude as the servers at DC’s are because of the simple fact that is inhuman to how I was raised. Everyone should be treated with respect, especially in the service…

Chew on This is an informational non-fiction book with persuasive motives. As a direct stab into the heart of the fast food industry, Chew on This dives deep into the business strategy and food quality of many restaurants Americans know and love. The story began with Schlosser and Wilson describing probably one of the most innocent times fast food has had: the story of the first hamburger. Seemingly innocent, this food choice spurred generations of obesity and poor health over all.…

We scored the fries with a 2 out of 3 for general appearance. These were the hottest fries that we received and, as expected, were still very warm after ten minutes. None of the fries were broken and they had flavored seasoning and skins on them. They had an average length of 3” and were less than ½” in diameter. The fires were thinner than Chili’s fries and saltier than Applebee’s fries. The team agreed that they were too seasoned. The fries left the largest overall grease stain when pressed into a napkin. There were two order sizes for the French fries. The small was $1.99 and the large was $2.79, which was 20 cents cheaper than the large order at Applebee’s. TGI Friday’s also had the highest consistency between orders (36 and 38). We received our to-go order in 6 minutes and 40 seconds. Unfortunately, these fries tasted the worst on the following day. This was overshadowed by the facility…

The best selling burger that they have is simply called “The Mel Burger” and it features a full pound of beef, one half pound of bacon, and three slices of cheese. It was voted “best burger in town” by Texas Monthly in 2009. Maybe it is just Mel’s roots, or maybe it is just that “bigger and better” Texas attitude, but the small family café had to create a challenge burger. The challenge is to consume “The Mega Mel Burger” in less than two hours without getting sick. The Mega Mel is made of 24 ounces of ground beef, a full pound of bacon, one-quarter pound of cheese, and all of the trimmings. On order to get your name on the wall, you must be able to walk and talk without getting sick after completing the challenge. This challenge has created quite a stir of excitement around the café, and attracts new customers quite often.…

Unlike other towns similar in size, Brentwood lacks a true downtown. Instead, the town can be categorized into a business district known as Maryland Farms, and a commercial district that runs alongside the city's artery, Franklin Road. Maryland Farms is home to many office buildings and chain restaurants, which satisfies a big portion of the economic needs of the south-Nashville region. On the other hand, Franklin Road is where many trendy shops and restaurants are found. Some popular places to visit include Uncle Julio's Mexican Restaurant, REI, and of course, Chick-fil-a.…

For one thing, the diner's plate-glass windows cause far more light to spill out onto the sidewalk and the brownstones on the far side of the street than is true in any of his other paintings. As well, this interior light comes from more than a single lightbulb, with the result that multiple shadows are cast, and some spots are brighter than others as a consequence of being lit from more than one angle. Across the street, the line of shadow caused by the upper edge of the diner window is clearly visible towards the top of the painting. These windows, and the ones below them as well, are partly lit by an unseen streetlight, which projects its own mix of light and shadow. As a final note, the bright interior light causes some of the surfaces within the diner to be reflective. This is clearest in the case of the right-hand edge of the rear window, which reflects a vertical yellow band of interior wall, but fainter reflections can also be made out, in the counter-top, of three of the diner's occupants. None of these reflections would be visible in…

Immediately upon walking through the elegant double doors, the sweet aroma of butter envelopes the air around me causing me to rapidly salivate. The smell of nacho cheese accompanies the butter fragrance and I quickly begin to picture the many tasty treats behind the square concession area that is located in front of me. Candy galore is perfectly aligned behind the glass case further enticing my taste buds. A perfect temperature keeps me comfortable and makes me wish my home's temperature could be this perfect. One well groomed attendant generously overfills a striped bag with freshly popped popcorn and delicately hands it to a young boy standing next to his mother. Colorful posters line the walls around me, showing a glimpse into what lies behind the doors located down the hallways. The softness of the bench I am sitting on causes me to wonder if I am perched upon a cloud. Intermittent bursts of laughter can be heard coming from down the long hallways as well as in the lobby creating an atmosphere of endless fun. Smiling faces of children, teenagers, and adults quickly pass by me and I can hear the attendant quickly tear their perforated tickets as he happily says, "To the left, third door on your right."…
