The Scary Friday Night.
The Scary Friday Night

Descriptive writing

It was a Friday night. The full moon was shining through the bare branches making scary shadows on our path as we walked. A cool light wind was blowing sending leaves dancing noisily in the forest floor. I remember thinking to myself that the night, was the scariest night ever, and I wanted to ask Scott to go back and take the long way through the road, but I was afraid that he would laugh at me and make jokes about me for being scared of the dark.

The path we walked on would take us past the park and end at the pub above called The Bull. We chose this path because it would be the shorter walk to the pub. We were feeling bored and went out for a drink or two. A walk that led us into the forest. As we walked past the park a group of teenage youths came jumping out from behind of some bushes and trees. My heart was in my throat and I felt Scott give a scared jump. "Oi, what the hell do you think you're doing!" Shouted Scott and swore at them. They laughed and went to find their gang. My face was still a look of terror and when Scott turned to see if I was all right, tan the youths swore at him back and were just standing there, Scott started chasing them. Then an older man appeared from the forest and pushed Scott so hard that sent him stumbling backwards, over a log into a big pile of leaves from a nearby tree. I was scared and I didn't know what to do so I ran thought the forest where I hid hoping to phone the police for help, the battery was dead, I run and hid.

I hid in behind a rock deep in forest n and feeling scared by myself and waited for the sound of crunching leaves. I listened intensely, but what broke the silence was not the sound I expected to hear. From below, in the forest, I heard speaking. The sound reminded some of the youths that scared us earlier. I slowly turned around to see who or what it was that was doing the chanting. Suddenly, from behind, a strong arm grabbed me. I opened my mouth to scream,

One night we were at Emili Lewis’s house. A few of us girls wanted to try to stay up all night. It had been raining so we decided we wanted to go for a drive. This point of the night it was like 1:30 a.m. We drove for a little while before we got bored. We decided to brainstorm some ideas of stuff to do. We decided we wanted to go out to Box Canyon in Kaitlin’s truck to look at the stars. It took us a little while to get everything put together. We finally started heading out there at 3:00 a.m. On the way out there we passed a truck. The truck was very short, matte black, and had a circle light bar in between the headlights. None of us recognized the truck and we got a little nervous. We decided to ignore it and keep going. For the rest of the drive we talked about boys, problems, and then we started talking about scary stuff. When we got out there we were too scared to get out of the truck, so we turned around and started back into town. We got…

One minute we were chewing on some lovely warm bread and the next, Greta and I found ourselves waking up in the middle of the forest. Dad had drugged both of us. We had grown up with stories about the forest, none of which ended happily. There were tales told of Vampires, Witches, Goblins and Werewolves. The trees in the forest were agreed to be untrustworthy as many townspeople told stories of how some liked to strangle people but others would lower a branch and offer you food.…

Throughout the course of our childhood, we have all been told frightening stories. Whether those stories were about “The Boogey Man” or “Bloody Mary” or even an original story, they all served one purpose, to frighten us into behaving. I really wish I had listened to my mother, I really wish I hadn’t tried to be the moron I was, if only I had experienced the slightest ounce of fear to prevent me from entering the woods, especially at night, when evil is said to be at its strongest.…

We moved into a fan formation and lost sight of each other. As I walked forward I saw the branches in front of me move. I stopped in my tracks. In Front of me was a huge black bear. I grabbed my gun and shot it in the air. The bear started to run towards me and I ran. I ran back the way I came. Sprinting I started to scream for my life until I fell the cold hard dirt was the last thing I felt before I felt the snap of my back as the bear landed on it. The cold ground started to warm as my vision blurred. The loud noise of a gunshot was the last thing I heard before I blacked…

I would wake up in the middle of the night, terrified of the dark. I’d think sometimes that my bed was on the ceiling and the whole house was upside down; and if I didn’t hang onto the mattress, I might fall outward into the stars. (She shivers a little, remembering) I wanted to run to my father, and have him tell me I was safe, that everything was all right. But, I was always more frightened of him than I was of falling.…

“Mom, mom, mom, mom!” I was practically screaming. I already knew what she was going to say. I just sat back on the couch and watched as a tear streamed down my face into my hand. I eventually fell asleep on the couch. I woke up at three in the morning and I could see the sun peaking out with the stars and moon retreating back until another night. I don’t know what came across me but I thought to myself why people are so cruel. I looked outside to see if anyone was out there. I just saw an empty street, just like one of those old ghost towns in old western movies.…

In the black shadow of the night there was a shattering scream. The scream was owned to my mother. As I woke, my eyes became more and more clear. When my eyes adjusted to the darkness I saw my mom being hovered over by my father. My eyes started to run like the creek next to our village. My mother was assassinated by someone in the Shawnee tribe. I saw the blood running down her sides. The shape of a long, dark, worn out, splintered spear pierced her chest. The movie that I chose to review was titled "Freaky Friday." It stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan as a mother and daughter who switch bodies for a day. In this film, Tess Coleman (played by Jamie Lee Curtis) is a widowed psychiatrist juggling her job and family while planning her second marriage. Anna Coleman (played by Lindsay Lohan), who disapproves of her mother's second marriage plans, is of no help to her mother at all during her stressful situations. Anna is a rebellious rocker who plays guitar in a garage band and would rather flirt with older boys than listen to her uptight mother.…

It is 8:30 on Halloween night as I am walking down the long streets of Clinton hearing nothing but children screaming, cars beeping, and leaves crackling beneath my feet in the cold, fall night. I turn the corner and see college kids and parents laughing by the Tavern as they exit the building. Making my way down the street with my friends by my side, cars are zooming by us like a school of fish swimming to get away from sharks. All of a sudden the group of kids I am with get attacked with shaving cream by underclassmen that think they are funny. A police slows down as he passes us to see what all the commotion was. Realizing it was nothing he continues on his nightly route. Furious and startled we walk away slowly because we were not dressed for the occasion of what kids call “bombing“. Minutes passed and we decided to go trick-or-treating. Approaching a house with a long cobble stone driveway and bright yellow lights we finally reach our destination. Warm apple cider and fresh cinnamon donuts are passed out among all of the people. We make our way back to town passing little kids in a variety of different costumes. Also middle and high school students throwing eggs and attacking each other with shaving cream. Dodging all the action we walk on the opposite side of the street they are on so we don’t get hit. Arriving back into town we see teachers, parents, and kids we know. After a warm welcoming of hellos we decided to make our way back to our homes considering it was a school night and it was getting late. Streets were starting to become clear as people decided the Halloween night was over. Adults turned off their lights making it clear they were done handing out candy for the night. Clintons streets remained silent as Halloween night came to an…

Film essays (or "cinematic essays") consist of the evolution of a theme or an idea rather than a plot per se; or the film literally being a cinematic accompaniment to a narrator reading an essay. From another perspective, an essay film could be defined as a documentary film visual basis combined with a form of commentary that contains elements of self-portrait (rather than autobiography), where the signature (rather than the life-story) of the filmmaker is apparent. The cinematic essay often blends documentary, fiction, and experimental film making using a tones and editing styles.[17]…
