The Scarborough Rapist
In May of 1987, a young woman was raped in Scarborough, Ontario. This was the first in a series of rapes which the media would begin referring to as “The Scarborough Rapist” (Sellers). The rapist was, in fact, Paul Bernardo, then 23 years old. He would eventually admit to fourteen rapes; he was associated in as many as 50 (Sellers). Five months later Bernardo met Karla Homolka, then 17, in a hotel restaurant in Scarborough. Prior to meeting Bernardo, Homolka had shown no signs of criminal or irregular behavior (Sellers). She quickly fell in love with Bernardo and the two became a couple. There is no suggestion that Homolka was aware of Bernardo’s was the Scarborough Rapist. The two did, however, participated in aggressive sexual play, with Bernardo showing great interest in having sex with a virgin something Karla Homolka could not provide. Karla’s younger sister Tammy, then 15, became a target of Paul’s attentions and Karla, demonstrating her willingness to “do anything” for Paul, participated in planning a strategy in which the two would drug Tammy and, while she was asleep, rape her (Sellers). The couple first tried to implement the plan in July 1990, giving Tammy a spaghetti dinner laced with Valium but Tammy woke up shortly after the rape began and the couple had to abandon their plan (Sellers). On December 23 of that same year, Bernardo and Homolka drugged Tammy Homolka using the animal tranquilizer halothane which Karla had stolen from her job (Sellers). With Karla videotaping, Paul raped Tammy in the family room of the Homolka house; however during the rape Tammy choked on her own vomit and died. Karla and Paul successfully covered up the evidence and Tammy’s death was ruled accidental (Sellers). Homolka and Bernardo would then go on to trick rape and release a young fifteen year old girl, in June of 1991 Bernardo kidnapped 14 year old Leslie Mahaffey (Sellers). With Homolka, he raped and murdered her, disposing of the body in concrete. Next in

After a short mail-request marriage to a Filipino lady who dumped him in 1986 for beating and assaulting her, he at long last went full Gary Heidnik. Snatching Josefina Rivera and imprisoning her in the cellar of his house. After being tourted an sexually assaulted and beaten he snatched five more women over various periods. Each at one time was shackled to pipes and were subjects to his vicious and sexual preferences. One lady, Sandra Lindsay died of maltreatment leading to his closest catch with the law; the stench of burning bits of her eviscerated cadaver in his stove pulled in suspicion of neighbors. Heidnik coolly shooed away the reacting cops with a story about burning his weekly roast. All the women were “subjected to beatings, torture and were raped on a daily basis.” (B, 2006, para 8). This became a normal routine for Heidnik. To the remaining and continuing incoming women he would use shock therapy on the women and would shove screwdrivers into their ears. Rivera said “Heidnik told her, came from watching the cult movie, “Eating Raoul.”” (B, 2006, para. 3). Debbie Dudley, who was 23, had also been found and had died in the chamber of…

Facts: On October 27, 1969, Prosenjit Poddar killed Tatiana Tarasoff. Plaintiffs, Tatiana's parents, allege that two months earlier Poddar confided his intention to kill Tatiana to Dr. Lawrence Moore, a psychologist employed by the Cowell Memorial Hospital at the University of California at Berkeley. They allege that on Moore's request, the campus police briefly detained Poddar, but released him when he appeared rational. They further claim that Dr. Harvey Powelson, Moore's superior, then directed that no further action be taken to detain Poddar. No one warned plaintiffs of Tatiana's peril.…

He sexually assaulted a 22 year-old-woman who was unconscious and intoxicated behind a dumpster on the college campus. At the end, the judge sentenced turner to six months in a county jail and three years of probation. He also must register as a sex offender, and participate in a sex-offender treatment program. Kimball's The Rape of Lucrece was divided into seven scenes with seven actors who delivered their lines to the sound of dripping bathwater, which created an acoustic effect echoing the opening scene. The Prologue lines, "How shines the morning silver-melting dew / Against the rising splendor of the sun" (Kimball n.p.), which note happiness as fleeting in nature in Shakespeare’s poem. As well, Lucrece’s rape and the establishment of the Roman republic are highlighted by the characters in the Prologue while using costumes and posture to show how Augusta (a man) and Maia (a woman), the Januses, and Silvia and Sabina would portray themselves.…

As I have motivated above I believe that the offender is a power-assertive rapist. And this kind of person is a person who is looking for domination and control. This offender will most likely be self conscious and attack victim who is in the same race and age group as himself. I think the offender will probably be in the same age group as Susan but the offender might be black or hispanic. I do not know Susan´s skin color but she is living in a neighborhood where only 10% are white, and therefore I believe that the chance of the offender being white is small. I believe that the offender is a male, because Susan was raped and in the text the killer is referred to as a he. The power-assertive rapist is as I said self conscious he cares about…
