The Sandlot Analysis

There are a few movies to choose from that has actually touched me personally. The one movie that had more of an impact was “The Sandlot”. The Sandlot showed tough times as a kid in the 1960s. The movie can be related to almost every kid. Being peer pressured by the people I call my friends, losing balls over the neighbor’s backyard, and being face to face by a big dog. These aren’t just situations that I face myself, but for most people in their childhood. Now, we will see how this relates to the movie’s editing, sound, and lighting. There is always a time in a person’s childhood life where they are introduced to peer pressuring. I’ve been peer pressured to do many things, but I have always refused to do them. I was aware of the possible negative effects I can get from being peer pressured, such as being caught by my parents, etc. However, this was not the case for Scotty Smalls. He did not know the effects of chewing tobacco and ended up trusting his friends. The camera zooms out and shows a spinning ride in the amusement park. This shows how the director wanted to keep the type of ride a secret to the audience. When they get on the ride and it starts, there is an immediate gut feeling from the audience that the kids will become nauseous. The following day, from not even being told, it is obvious that Smalls is sick. His way of acting towards his mom and the way he talks so slowly can easily be hinted that he is sick.
