The Role Of So Horrible Soldiers In The Vietnam War
Even though the war was so terrible soldiers continue to fight for the lives lost during the war. Some soldiers were prepared to risk their lives so long as there was a chance of success for them. Most went into the war believing they could make a change. Not just for themselves but for their family and country. Some were forced into going to war and forced to fight for their

John Morton Blum retiree of Yale University depicts “combat soldiers as largely disconnected from the geopolitical goals articulated by President Roosevelt.” Each soldier had his own individual motivation entering into the war but all had the same reason to win the war, to make it home. Home was what encouraged the troops to fight. The Saturday Evening Post ran a series asking soldiers what they were fighting for, they were quoted saying “I am fighting for that big house with the bright green roof and the big front lawn”...“that girl with the large brown eyes and the reddish tinge in her hair.” Blum describes the GI as a homely hero, the common good man and the peoples' hero. The soldiers had no visible purpose but winning the war so that he could return to comfort.…

While all this stuff has happened I was one of the first to get drafted into the war and many of my friends died and when I say many I mean a ton. The war was harsh and I was one of the guys to get a long range rifle and so I was saved from most of the kills because I was always one trench back from my fellow soldiers. The conditions were rough in the trenches like the food was served in miniscule amount and the health conditions were terrible. Sometimes they would shoot gas grenades over and poisonous gas would come over into the trench but we all had small gas masks to wear in the case. These were the fighting conditions I faced for 4 years.…

Following the Paris Peace Accords, Operation Homecoming returned 591 American prisoners of war (POWs) to the US. At the time, over 1,300 prisoners were listed as missing in action (MIA). An additional 1,200 were killed in action (KIA) and body not recovered. In the ensuing 20 years, activist groups pushed the American government to look into the matter, and several investigations were launched. While no governmental investigation has determined that American POWs were left behind, there remains considerable evidence that the POW MIA issue contains validity.…

    Vietnam War Selfishness

I would have to admit that humans are selfish creatures in general. My reasoning is that in the most intense of situations, most humans will choose to save themselves over anyone else. For example, during the Vietnam War many Americans were unable to fully sympathize with the South Vietnamese and constantly called for the withdrawal of American troops until that request was fulfilled. While I understand the outcry to stop the number of American deaths in Vietnam, I also sympathize with South Vietnamese were under the threat of being overtaken and forced into communism or even genocide. The selfishness of Americans during this time was obvious. The American people pleaded for the President to pull out of Vietnam while knowing the fate of the…

We fight because we believe. Not that war is good, but that sometimes it is necessary. Our soldiers fight and die not for the glory of war, but for the prize of freedom and the ideologies that our country stands for. So great, were these ideologies, that men and women have bravely fought to defend them. OUR COUNTRY HAS FACED MANY TESTS OF COURAGE since its birth. Our answer to tests can be found in cemeteries from the islands of the Pacific to the coast of northern France. You can visit the hills in Arlington National Cemetery where markers record the names of more than 280,000 men and women. Each one was once or still is the most important person in someone's life. WITH EACH LOSS IN WAR, the world is changed forever for the family and friends left behind. IT IS UP TO US TO GIVE MEANING FOR THEIR SACRIFICE and de devoted to those principles for which these heroic citizens gave their lives. There is NO GREATER LOVE than to give your life for another. ut of all the evil people in the world, it only takes a few good souls to stand up and do the right thing in order to make a difference. There are so many stories from wars about death and destruction of people's homes, lives, and dignities. Wars have a unique ability to cloud the mind. They can make people do crazy things. They can make people do things that they would never think they were capable of doing. Wars can make you do the wrong thing, but they can also open your heart to doing the right thing. Despite the fact that there was so much destruction caused by the dictators who ruled much of Europe during the time of World War two there were people who stood up against those evils. According to the Talmud, 'whoever saves one life, saves an entire world. This Jewish saying, points out that if you can save one life you have saved an entire generation. This is because when you take away someone's life, you take away their ability to fall in love, marry, and have children; therefore, destroying potential.…

War is often thought about as something that hardens a soldier. It makes a person stronger emotionally because they are taught to not show emotion. Mainly dealing with the soldiers learning to be less human and turning into killing machines. Finding the reason why you are at war may be one of the hardest things to do. Are you fighting for a country you love and that loves you? Or will you find yourself one day writing a apology letter to your parents because you feel ashamed of fleeing from war because you believed you were too good like Tim O’brien?…

The knowledge I acquired the most was how quickly the veterans perished in war, the assumptions I made my whole life were that most veterans at least served a year in war. This assignment, unfortunately, or fortunately did not alter the manner I viewed veterans, because we never learned about the veterans personality, rather just their basic life details. As I read upon the information of a veteran named Billy Kennedy Evans, Jr., a shocking element came into sight. His death was due to going missing after a helicopter crash, the creepiest bit is that his dead body was never found. Of all the veterans I grasped the fundamental information on, all veterans seemed to have one thing in common: How instant their deaths…

When you see the number of how many people have died in war on the news, not many people think about it too deeply and that is because it is just numbers and the fact that you weren’t there. But think, if you had been there, seeing one person die would affect you deeply, and you would have a strong feeling and a visual picture that you can never forget. Many of those people that died did not want to die. They were the victims of war. They had no place to hide or run away from, just waiting for the enemy to come and attack. For example, in World War 2, the total people that died during the war were 73,000,000 people and about 50,000,000 were civilians. It is a very depressing fact that more than half were civilians who have done nothing wrong. Or even think what if the person that died was your parents or your sister or brother? Imagine all of your relatives have died in the war. How would you feel?…

In order to be successful with business practices in Vietnam, you must be aware of the ethics in that particular country. "Transparency International, a global counter-corruption watchdog, ranks Vietnam as the second most corrupt country in South-East Asia, based on a survey of international businessmen" (economist.com). The corruption is very much widespread and must be taken into account when doing business in the country. Aside from being a very corrupt nation, the workforce struggles with conditions in the factories they work in. As an international manager we must be able to deal with these situations. For the most part, the workers suffer from conditions like long hours with little to no breaks, unsanitary environments, and lack of appropriate gear/equipment. Workers at times even come to work sick just to prevent from losing a job.…
