The Role Of Racism In The Justice System
Racism is the discrimination against someone of a different race based on the belief that one race is superior to another. The United States of America is supposed to serve as a beacon of democracy, a country that has moved on from racial differences and segregation. However, if we take a closer look in our justice system, it is apparent that racism still plays a toll in our lives. According to the government’s website, more than half of crime and arrest rates are caused by racial bias. It is obvious to say that the minority group will be faced with indifference
The ratio of people of colour imprisoned compared to whites is absurd. One in nine men are likely to go to prison, but only one in 17 of those men are white, one in 13 for black men,
