Muslims were instrumental in the scientific advances that went on in the Golden Age of Islam. Through their conquests and travels and trade, they picked up many advances from other regions and centralized them in their House of Wisdom. They also spread science and books by translating them to Arabic so everyone in their kingdom can read it since it was their mandatory language.

As Islam conquered other countries it also enforced it"s laws. One of these being Arabic as their primary spoken language. This made communicating with people from other parts of the country easy since they all had a common language. They also imposed a tax on Christians and Jews who did not convert.
