The Rokeach Value Survey
Do people know what values are and which ones are the most important to them? Values are a person’s ethics of behavior shaping his or her vision by taking the Rokeach Value Survey. The survey was created by Milton Rokeach, consisting of the most important values and beliefs and how it influences people, organizations, and society (Johnston, 1995). The personal models of leadership are the advancement of personal growth and values. A leader must first be a servant who serves others to distinguish what people needs are. The personal model of leadership reflects on my values and beliefs; which are honesty, responsibility, equality and loving demonstrating how it will effect an individual, interpersonal, organizational and societal. The behavior and action I do is to volunteer to help those in need either at my church or going to shelters. The meaning of purpose is to teach others that by helping and giving it does not make the person any richer or poorer. The meaning is to feel well about lending a hand to those in need. The purpose is to give back to the community, demonstrating the love and passion in doing so. The impact of me teaching others that they will find a purpose in their life. Servant leaders love societies and their necessities.

In conclusion, knowing what values are, helped me define a servant leader. Milton Rokeach allowed me to understand the most important and least important values I own. My personal model of leadership is generated from understanding the morals of a real servant leader. The greatest values of a servant leader is, to be honest, responsible, equal and a loving person. Greenleaf’s definition of servant leadership is one which is based on teamwork and community while seeking to involve others in the decision making and is strongly based in ethical and caring behavior while enhancing the growth of people (Spears, 1996).     As we develop into leaders, one of the things we need to know is what it means to be a servant leader. Today such examples are greatly lacking. Servant leadership is a choice by a leader to follow the example of The Jesus Christ and The Mother Teresa and lead by serving, becoming a bondservant and giving his life for others.
