THE CRITERIA OF AN IDEAL TEACHER

Assalamualaikum. I’m IRFAH BINTI OTHMAN BAKAR. Matrix no. D 20102044457. IC no. 830605-08-5864. I’m going to give a speech on topic ‘The Criteria of An Ideal teacher.

When talking about being an ideal teacher, there is a myriad of perspectives of what an ideal teacher is. Even I, being a teacher, have my own point of view of the criteria of an ideal teacher.

Firstly, for me, an ideal teacher is one who can be a motivator to her pupils. With the awareness that the pupils come from different backgrounds, have different personalities and so on, an ideal teacher should know how to give motivation to each pupil. She needs to know that different pupil require different kinds of motivations as they would definitely face different kind of problems. So, being a good motivator is essential to be an ideal teacher.

Then, I also think that an ideal teacher should be an idol for her pupils. Some say that teachers are children’s role model. Thus, based on this, an ideal teacher should know how to act, dress, speak, walk or even talk correctly in front of her pupils, for all these aspects are actually being observed by them. I always hold on one principle; “once a teacher, always a teacher.” Therefore, in everything we do, an ideal teacher should do it like how a teacher is supposed to do.

Punctuality is another feature of an ideal teacher which she has to foster amongst the pupils and should explain the importance of time factor which is the dire need of the hour, particularly in a fast moving phase of ours. Being punctual to school is also a sort of discipline that cannot be infringed upon at any cost. And ideal teacher must evolve best and innovative methods to tap the potentialities that are dormant in every child. Thus, teachers help in nurturing positive thoughts in the minds of their students and there by adopt an optimistic outlook towards life.

After that, an ideal teacher also

    * The first characteristic necessary in being the ideal teacher is being involved. Teachers will become like second parents to many students in their career, so being involved is crucial. When you think of a teacher, many assume the only thing they can be involved in is standing in front of a classroom and giving homework, this is certainly not the case. For instance, teachers know they may be faced with a student who is having a hard time at home, such as being abused and in many cases have no-one else to turn to. The ideal teacher makes it a point to get involved so that any student feels confident enough that they can talk to their teacher. When I was in school I hit the age that I thought I knew everything and was getting into trouble, I look back now and thank god that I had some outstanding teachers who helped me through.…
