The Road-Personal Narrative
One time, I was in great danger. It was last year, when I was 11 years old, at my grandma’s house. Also, it was during the summer time. It was only my grandma, my cousin, Tyler, and I. Her house was in a subdivision in Davison, Michigan. After we were there for about two hours, my cousin and I decided to go outside for a little bit. For a while we played football, but then we decided to go on a bike ride, because we felt really energetic. At first we just rode around the subdivision. But then, we went out on the road to go to the gas station to get some snacks. A lot of cars and trucks go on that road often, because it is one of the main roads. We had to go through that road to get to the gas station, because we were hungry. At the end of the main road, four different roads merged into an intersection. Before we went to the gas station, we just rode the bikes through other subdivisions and parking lots.
The main road had a lot of pot-holes and bumps on it. It also had no sidewalk, so we had to ride the bikes on the side of the road, without going to the middle of it. But we

I also learned a life lesson to be responsible, and safe. Because I wasn't being either one of those, which got me in that situation. I also felt sort of ashamed of myself because I wasn’t paying attention to the road. We ended up telling my grandma about what happened. After all of that happening, my cousin Tyler and I just went on about the day and just played outside and hung out. It was a really long, and dangerous day, but it was also fun. It also kind of changed my perspective of things, because I remembered life isn’t forever, so I have to be more careful. Now, whenever I am riding a bike or just on a street, I am careful, and make sure that I am not in the middle of the road. That was a time when I was in great

One of the main reasons for its anonymity is the lack of publications detailing the area. Here in the Big Empty, however, many lonely and rather mysterious dirt roads have a come-hither attraction, if for no other reason than to see where they lead. Many of them do not require a tank or a beefy 4WD rig.…

Next, gravel and pebbles were rammed onto that layer to make a hard surface. After the gravel and pebbles, the Papas would place stone slabs for the top layer, so it was usable by all. The center of the road was always a little bit higher than the edges of the road, so that the water could easily flow off, and into the channels on the sides of the road. Since some of the towns were in the mountains, or extreme hills, the roads that traveled to them had to be cut straight through the rough terrain. If they hadn't gently sloped them through the hillsides, then the steep and bumpy roads would not be travelable.…

We started hiking through a big pasture in all of our wet, cold kayaking gear. After an hour of walking through the pasture, we ended up walking into the jungle which gets thicker the deeper you go into it. It was a very steep hike and we had to cross over two cliffs where we would have died if we had slipped and fallen. I was at the back of the pack of people trudging through the jungle, so it was very muddy and slippery. All of us were slipping and grabbing anything to stay up, and you would usually be grabbing a thorn vine and tearing up your hand. After two hours of trudging through the jungle, we still could not find the campsite, so we circled back around and found a old abandoned farming cabin to sleep in that night. Everyone on the trip thought we would die in that jungle because it was so dangerous. The next morning we went back down to the kayaks and paddled down the rest of the muddy river to the campsite. The Red Cross came the next day and also we made an appearance on multiple Costa Rican…

I always keep this poem and picture in my wallet. I take it everywhere with me because it means quite a lot to me in two very different ways. One of those ways is because it holds sentimental value. When I was younger I learned to read very late in life and I was always so embarrassed of that. My father knew that I was struggling and bought me the book, Where the Sidewalk Ends. It is a book full of poems and little pictures written by Shel Silverstein. I remember opening the book to ta random page, and it was the page with this poem. I then remember my dad asking me to read it to him. I was so uncomfortable, even thought I was just going to be reading to my dad. He gave me some words of encouragement, and even thought I was not able to read…

When I first started learning how to ride a motorcycle I was very scared. After a while, I started to get the hang of it, but before I could become good, I crashed it into a barbed wire fence. I can still remember that day perfectly. It was a sunny summer weekend right before school started. My brother and I were taking turns riding it. My dad was mowing the lawn and my mom was at work. When it was my turn to ride it, I was doing okay until the second lap. The end of the second lap is where everything went bad. I was in the grass on the side of a hill. I remember getting closer and closer to the fence. I slowed the motorcycle down and put it in neutral, but I was still getting closer to the fence. I should have used the brakes, but at that…

I am so thankful that my dad and I were alright and that no one was injured in the accident. We had gotten a rental car and proceeded with our trip to Florida. I believe that everything happens for a reason and when something tragic happens, it only means that there is something better in store in the…

My friends and I were out riding around trying to decide if we wanted to go to Carowinds. I was driving too fast and jerking the wheel back and forth. I lost control of the car. The car ran off the edge of the road, and I hit a ditch damaging the left side of the car. The car then spun around and the right side of the car hit the ditch. The airbags popped out and hit me in the face. After we stopped spinning I asked my friends if they were ok. Fortunately, none of us got hurt. I had to call my parents and tell them that I wrecked the car. The police came and gave me a ticket and showed me at fault in the wreck. The wrecker picked up the car and took it to the body shop. The insurance adjuster looked at the car and said it was totaled. I had to wait a long time before my parents would even consider getting me another car. I had to go back to waiting for someone to pick me or asking somebody else for a ride. Although wrecking my car will always be an unpleasant memory of my first car, it taught me a valuable lesson about driving safely.…
