The Red Room: A Narrative Fiction
With every waking second that she sat at that bar, her sanity was chipped away on piece at a time. It seemed to take hours for a minute to go by and with every minute she grew angrier and angrier. The sun slowly began to set, and the sky became so vibrant with orange and pinks that it was almost dream like. The sun descending behind the trees, and the birds flying back to their nests. She waited over 4 hours at the cafe for him to show up but he still hadn’t strolled in to greet her. The waiter came behind the bar and asked her:
“Would you like another soda?”
She slammed the glass down on the counter and told him “Bring me something stronger than a damn soda!”
He walked away and didn’t come back for a while, she knew he wasn’t coming but she sat there all night. The waiter came back from behind the doors of the kitchen, and set down a small, short glass. He told her:

She screamed:
“This isn’t what I wanted!”
She poured out some salt from the shaker that was to the right of her. She then laid her head on the table and started to count the grains of salt that met her eye level on the counter. She waited all night for him to show but he never did.
Morning came and she left the café with her mascara running and a ton of salt stuck to the side of her face. As she walked through the door not paying attention to anybody else. A man walks through the door and asks the waiter behind the counter
“Hi, I was supposed to meet a woman here last night, did you happen to see her.
She is- “
He cut the man off and replied “She was here, I can give you her name and address if you like.”
He said “That would be amazing”
The man left the café and walked the 14 blocks to her apartment that was on the
9th floor. He rang the doorbell and the woman opened it. She dropped the cup of coffee that was in her hand and gave him a hug. She let go, motioned him to enter her apartment, and she said “Welcome home
