The Rabid Raccoons: A Narrative Fiction
I quickly ran the fastest as I could, finding a hiding spot, like a bunny would do as if it was being chased by something. I ran back into the woods, making eye contact with the raccoons as I ran. I made a slight turn to the nearest tree, and hoped the rabid raccoons wouldn't find me. I saw them keep on running in the direction that they were chasing me before. I couldn't see anything still, but all I saw was the bright, burning hot sun, rising. I knew it was going to take a while for the sun to rise completely, maybe 4 or 6 hours, I wasn't sure. But what I did know is that I had to find my way out of here for sure. It was still dark, but the clouds were cloudy as if everything was still dark. I started running back to the bridge. I heard tiny …show more content…
I looked back, seeing if there was any sign of life, but no, it was just me. I looked down, and that thing kept on following me wherever I went. I looked forward, furious. I started to run as fast as I could, faster, faster, faster, until I made it. It was small, kind of big, and all grey. It had a little window, so I peered inside. There was nothing that I could see, but I could tell it was pretty old. All of a sudden, a crow appeared in the little window. I took a few footsteps back, looking at the small, big house. I didn't see any door, so I looked around the house. I saw the door, all boarded up. I looked around the house again to see if there was anything for me to take the wood off, but then, I saw a huge hole. I went inside, making the least amount of noise I could, getting inside that little house.

When I got halfway inside, there was a snake by my feet, so I stood still. I saw the crow, looking at the snake as if it was prey. Sure enough, the snake was prey when the crow swapped down and took the snake and gulped it down. The bird looked at me, and charged onto my shoulder. It pecked at me, then more crows came behind me. The crows started to stare, then they charged at me. That's when I saw the past. I saw my grandparents, all happy seeing me back home, but then I saw the future: them being very mad at be for being in the woods, far away. I never knew if I was going to make it back

After giving the pile of old tree limbs she was pointing at a good second stare I saw it. There was a roof slightly sticking up from a mass of brush. I had lived right up the hill from this location for 9 years and had been down to the camp dozens of times, but never have I ever noticed this small roof that was roughly 100 meters away from the camp. We sprinted on through the scraggly brush, being pulled back on by plenty of branches and jumping over small creeks. Tumbling, jerking, and fleeing was pulling everyone back, but yet was pushing everyone forward. We stopped dead in our tracks after what felt like hours of sprinting and adjusted to the spontaneous sight that was in front of us, sending my eyes into…

I looked around and I wasn’t in my room anymore, I was in the hospital during my grandpa’s surgery. The waiting room was cold and sterile and the smell of antiseptic was so strong I could taste it. Waves of uneasiness washed over me as if they were trying to drown me. My grandma and my mother were sitting in the room with me and they looked just as scared. I remembered how long my grandpa was in surgery to get his windpipe removed, how I had thought that I wouldn’t make it through the hours he was and that if he didn’t then I wouldn’t make it for much longer afterward.…

A mere twenty minutes later, I was exhausted. The sun had burst through the clouds and was basking the mountainside in violent light. I was roasting in the safety of my outer shell. As my once confident steps became desperate shuffles, I began to understand that my end was near. But I had a goal to achieve, and so I fought to deny what I knew to be true. Soon, I fell back and separated from the group. It was then that the guide made his move. He swooped down on me, looked me in the eye, and told me it was…

I was led by the smoke cloud to a quaint little cottage. It did not appear to be vacant. As I was approaching the door, I noticed a faint glow in the arched window. I assumed it was candlelight. In the corner of my eye, I sensed movement. A blurry and small outline of a person topped the hill. I decided to go in to the cottage even though the movement still was etched my mind. Once in, I walked through a small sitting circle and felt warmth from the fire burning stove. Into the kitchen was a table with food. A warm and fresh prepared meal was set out for two guests. The table had turkey, peas, green beans, bread and pie. I hadn’t eaten since this morning so I decided to help myself to a plate. As I was about to take a bite of the turkey, the wood door pushed open. This sound startled me to the point of coughing. The blurred figure came through the door. It was the person I saw in field. That person was carrying a basket full of garden vegetables. When the person saw me, she asked me who I was and why I was in her house. I told her about my hunting experience and how I had walked upon the cottage. I let her know about how cold it was and that I needed a little warmth and something to eat. She didn’t feel sorry for me in the least bit. I felt extremely bad because she had made this meal for her husband and children. I gave her my regards and lots for rabbits to enjoy. I left on my horse…

When I woke up, it was already dark. I was a bit astonished, I thought that I had slept only for about half an hour. The sky was so dark that I wondered if it was probably past midnight. I tried to find the path back home but it was as if I had lost my sense of direction, and I was unable to tell where my home was. I remained a few moments sitting on the ground and suddenly, I saw the little wild animal again. Then others came, there were about thirty now, all were looking at me. Something caught my attention, one of them was different from the others, it was taller and bigger and its fur was not blue, but green. In a blink of an eye, they all disappeared.…

The glazed tiles reflected on my tired eyes not allowing to be opened. I slowly started blinking, harmfully blinking my eyes to see where I am. Thanking god to keep me alive, and letting me save the lives of those innocent people who have suffered so much.…

It was a miracle to finally have peace and quiet throughout the day.I had never felt more relaxed. The night came around and I was off to bed, when I heard the rustling of the piled leaves outside my dusty window that I had not noticed. It seemed to be coming closer and closer towards my bedroom window. I began to get nervous and frightened, for I didn’t know what or who it was. I then heard the banging of something outside the window and rocks being thrown like huge catapults from outside the house. I then bravely looked out the window and screamed like a wild monkey that had lost his favorite banana. It was little red chief and that little demon was back! I couldn’t bare to stay there a second longer, so I ran out of my tiny house that was…

I stood in the corner of the room forlorn and puzzled. My parents searched elsewhere; somewhere isolated and far from the epicentre. They found me a room that was vacant and diminutive. Thus, my parents left in a hasten manner. Mum says “We will be back sweetheart...take care!” gasping for air. I reply “Where are you going?” and Dad answers “Stay seated. It’s dangerous out there!” Suddenly, my heart hammers rapidly and my body cannot quit trembling. I stare through the window beside me through a telescope, in the far distance I see the city falling apart and crashing down hastily. It has been 1 and half hours. Relentless thoughts run through my head “Where are my parents? What do I do?” I put my head down on the table in front of me and close off the outside world and I take deep breaths to regain my…

It was the spring of 2009 I was six years old and my Great Grandma Hood was 74. It was just like any other day, sunny outside with some clouds and a cool wind which was normal around this time of year. As we usually did my Mom, sister, Grandma and I went to visit my Great Grandma Hood. She had just recently got this huge cage it was like a building compared to how small I was. To me it was the strangest thing, there were all these houses inside with hanging yellow things that almost looked like oats. There were these little water bowls that looked like they could be for some sort of small dog. Then I see it, this giant bird comes out of one of the houses from hiding. At first this giant squawking thing scared me but the more I looked at it the more it saw past its size. I tried to think that…

She never believes me. But you will, won't you? Please tell me you'll listen. Well, everyone in town is scared of it - the crow, I mean. It's pretty big for a crow. Its wings are the size of my arms (chuckles). But whenever I see it, I get a shiver down my spine. It's an awful feeling. Like that feeling when you did something horrible, yeah, that one. Well, anyways, I was out playing with my friend, Jimmy - his name is Jim but everyone calls him Jimmy, Jim's too formal for him. So, I saw it and that creeping feeling came back like it always does. I wasn't the only one who saw it either. The whole town stopped to look at it. The reason being is that it belonged to Old Man Winter.…

There was utmost silence and pitch darkness as we walked towards the camp which was located at the middle of the jungle. Our footsteps could be heard along with the hoots of the owl, chirping of the crickets and croaks of the frogs. We were so exhausted and starved that we couldn’t even move an inch forward. Placing out torches down, we slowly sat down on the ground. When we started our journey the sun had shades of bright red and yellow but we never knew that we would get lost in the jungle at the middle of the night. Squirrels, Cats and other animals were crawling from place to place and enjoying the pitch darkness. An inkling was fixed in my mind that we would never find our way back home or to the camp. After taking a few minutes rest on the ground we started our journey again.…

The day was so blistering that you could fry an egg on the side walk. The sun was beaming directly at me. We went on every ride until we came to a ride for my brother {which was extremely boring.} So I asked my dad if I could go on some rides because it was boring standing watching my brother in the water playing. He allowed me to go and said that my grandma was sitting on a bench if I needed something, but I never realized that something was going to happen. As I went on my first ride I came to discover that my grandma had disappeared from the very bench she was sitting on. I looked everywhere, but she was nowhere in sight. And the worst thing was I wasn’t wearing my glasses or contacts, so I could not see much. Then I went to see if my parents were in the same place with my brother, no one. I went to find someone to help me find my parents. We searched and searched everywhere. We even went to the place where my parents were seen last time like at least 15 million times. The search grew longer and my legs were getting very sore. I thought we would never make it to my parents. Who knew, we might as well not find them. I was bummed out. We walked to the tower to call my parents, but they wouldn’t pick up. I was getting really terrified. I sat down, giving up all my strength in looking for them until I saw my mom coming out of nowhere. I was really excited to see her. I passed through the crowd bumping into some people just to get to my mom’s hands so I would feel safe. She hugged and kissed me a bunch of times. I felt happy once more.…
