The Pros And Cons Of Dress Codes

Let Us Be Us How would you feel if you weren’t allowed to express the way you felt at all? Better yet, how would you feel if your education was being disturbed because of your clothes? Many girls all over the United States are taken out of their class to change their clothes because they are “too revealing.” This is something that girls all over the country have to deal with this, but girls at our school also have to deal with it. The dress code at Lincolnview is unfair because the rules are ridiculous, it is unfair/sexist, and students cannot express themselves. The first reason the dress code is is bad is because the rules are ridiculous. The school system makes horrible rules for students, like girls not being able to show their shoulders. There is nothing wrong with a shoulder as long as the shirt does not go down too far to show anything, also not being able to show their bra strap. Everyone knows that most girls in high school wear bras. People make a big deal about girls wearing “spaghetti straps” because it is too revealing to the girl's shoulders. In any gym class during the day, there will probably be a ton of boys wearing cut off shirts that are very revealing of the guys’ chests, but no one ever says a word about it, But no one would ever would be okay with a girl wearing a shirt that is revealing. I know in today's society it is wrong for a girl to show her chest, and I’m not saying that it is, but it shouldn’t be okay for boys in schools to show parts of their body that girls cannot. If guys can show off their whole chest, then maybe girls should be able to too. It it is unfair that girls always get pulled out of the classroom because their clothes are “distracting,” It is very unfair to make a girl leave the classroom to change her shirt, or shorts.
