The question that most people ask though, is college for everyone? People argue that college is a good fundamental experience that is needed, while others argue it is a big waste of time and money. Leonhardt explains that college is beneficial in the sense that if you to college you are more likely to get paid more, eventually erasing your debt, and still make more money than a high school graduate. While this might be true, Matthews believes the total opposite of this. He exclaims that with the cost of college now sky rocketing, it is not worth the money. He talks about also that a good percentage of college students that graduate make the same amount of money as a high school graduate. Even though this might be a possibility, I would be willing to take the risk. College has helped many people become successful and I want to be a part of …show more content…

Why go to college? Why would someone spend thousands of dollars to sit in yet another classroom? My uncle says “people that get a degree make over a million dollars more in a lifetime.” My dad counters that with “the world needs ditch diggers too.” I came to college to start my life, to become an independent man who finds his niche among society. I suppose some people can do that outside of school but I find college to be an optimum transition to the adult life as it teaches practical skills, instills a greater appreciation of the world, and makes one discontent with inequities in the community.…

Many people argue that going to college is either a waste of money or a waste of time because “now a days” it does not matter if you have a degree or not, it is still hard to find a job. I believe this to be different. People who do not go to college are more likely to be unemployed and, therefore, place undue financial strain on society, making a college degree worth it to taxpayers. In my opinion I think that going to college is a great experience to meet new people, learn social skills, and earn a degree which will always pay off in the long run.…

My whole life I have heard it said that going to college is a must to survive in the economy and live a successful life, but is that true? Recent events beg to differ as seen in a Newsweek article where they quoted a professor at Georgetown University’s Center on Education and the Workforce, Anthony Carnevale, saying college graduates make up almost “40 percent of the unemployed in the U.S.”. This example forms just one argument that I will use, along with the price that college demands for its services and its uselessness in fields of employment, to convince you that college isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be.…

College is a very difficult decision in many people's lives around the world. The stories of Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs show that sometimes college would not be the best idea for some people. However, these successful people went through difficult times and failed much in life, before becoming who they are now.
