The Problem Of Homelessness In Washington
While on the streets, English teacher Pamela Lund wore ragged clothing, carried an old, beat-up sleeping bag, and wrapped $2 in a wool sock. Lund isn’t homeless, but for three weeks, she decided to live as a bag lady on the streets of Washington, D.C. to experience what living life as a homeless person is like.
“I think if every American spent a week on the streets, we wouldn’t have this problem,” Lund said. “When you think of the homeless situation, it boggles the mind. I’m not out to change the world, but if my three weeks on the street can improve the situation in any way, then the experience was worthwhile.”
