The Possibility Of Curiosity On Mars

Mars is the fourth planet closest to the sun where Earth is the second closest. The distance between Earth and Mars is constantly changing due to the two planets are orbiting the sun. When Earth and Mars come to the closest distance; the distance between them is approximately 33.9 million miles away from each other. This phenomenon occurred in 2003 where the distance between the two planets was just 34.8 million miles. Mars has been a fascinating planet for NASA’s to do space exploration; however, the distance and other undiscovered planet environments are challenges for exploration mission of the red planet. Just a matter of time, NASA always find a way to explore Mars. In 2011, NASA launched Mars Science Laboratory to the red planet. After launched, the journey to the red planet took 8 and half months to reach its destination. Mars Science Laboratory is NASA’s Mars Exploration Program in which to land a rover named Curiosity on Mars. The main mission of the Mars Science Laboratory is to explore Mars’s environment and its habitability. There were many challenges that scientists at NASA faced to put Curiosity on Mars. This mission and the challenges that scientists need to cope and solve to make the mission possible has grabbed my interest in doing research on the Mars Science Laboratory.
