The Phone
Some people wonder “do mobile phones do more harm than good for young people.” People have a valid point in both views, it both helps and aids young people’s lives but also can aggravate their lives as well. Many people disagree over this and some people think it just brilliant but other people think the phones should be completely banned and thrown down the drain. The purpose of this essay is to look at both views, the benefits and problems to young people’s lives.
Many people argue that mobile phones can lead to/encourage bullying. This can be because if you have an old, cheap or certain type of phone people think you can’t afford good quality products or have a bad taste in what phone you get. Everybody has different taste in what phone they want, people might be able to afford a top of the range phone but might no choice it. You can’t stop the bullying if people are texting you, if you didn’t have a phone you couldn’t be subjected to the bullying at home instead of just at school. People might choice a white or black phone but that’s their taste and bullies don’t like it. Bullies might have an ancient cheap phone with tons of scratches and are jealous of their classmate’s phone as it has a touch screen and can operate games etc. Some people have objections with BlackBerrys, HTC, LG and many more phones but this is no need for bullying for owning a specific type of phone. The only way to stop this would be completely banning mobile phones.
Another compelling point is the phone can become addictive and actually prevent people from socializing which is the contradictory of what the phone was invented for. The phone was invented for socializing, the phone and text feature was what the early basic mobile phones had, modern mobile phones now have games and internet etc. which can steer away from what phones try to aid. You might be completing the final level of your favourite game and a text comes through and says “do you want to go to the park?” you might
