I felt that it was not scary to perform but instead i thought it was cool. The perfrmace was really nice because it showed my parents how hard i practice for the

My insider/outsider partner was Alicia Garcia. As you can tell by her last name she is Hispanic. I don’t have many Hispanic friends and I am not use to their culture. Starting on the project Alicia told me a little a bit about her heritage. One of the things I asked her was, “Do you celebrate the day of the dead?” I know that might seem like a crazy question to ask, but I the only thing that I truly knew about her culture is what I seen on TV. Alicia said that they do celebrate it to some extent. They don’t actually go to a grave site and light candles for their fallen relatives, but instead have a feast in honor of them. Alicia is the first generation American Hispanic.…

It was impossible, there was no sword in the rock, nothing. I instantly knew just who had it. Back at the tourney, I decided on confronting the child and the knight that had the blade. But the sword was now just a normal blade exactly like mine. Was I insane? No, I knew what I had seen. I knew there was a ornate golden blade. I scanned the surrounding area searching for a sign of where the golden blade and the knight where. Finally I decided to just go down and run between the tents that held armour and weapons for the soldiers, and then finally the actual tourney. I then noticed the child returning looking prouder than ever. I confronted him trying to look like a stalwart knight. But I´d say I looked more like a coward, so he just ignored…

There has been many cases in which I have helped an outsider feel welcome. One time in particular is when I played tag with this little boy at church since he was new and no one else played with him. Originally, I was outside eating candy and talking to my friends at church. I noticed that this little boy was standing all alone watching all the other little kids play without him. I thought that maybe he was upset so I went over to him and asked if he wanted the rest of my gummy worms. He seemed nervous at first, but eventually he started talking to me. I learned that he was five years old and he was visiting his grandparents for the weekend. His older brother was outside playing basketball with some of the other older boys at the church, and…

I had always had my own band with my friends since a young age and we were good but had never played on a stage, and if I were to do good at the concert my band also could start to become…

I had the opportunity to do just that when I left my hometown in Hong Kong and come to America for a better education. I was only thirteen years of age at the time. Giving me the chance to come the U.S was the greatest gift that my parent has ever given me in my life. I appreciated them for providing me this valuable and precious chance for my thirteen years old birthday present.…

As I was writing my personal narrative for my composition 1 class, it easily made my mind boggle. After I had got started on my personal narrative, it was easy for me to keep writing and keep following along the story line. The main strength of mine that the essay played to was my creativity and my flexibility for different writings, because I have never written an essay as serious and sad as this one, but I did have to add my happy ending when I finished the story. I wanted it to be very attention grabbing with a twist, but I also wanted it to be very emotional.…

Yet another Thanksgiving, and I was stuck in my uncle’s basement watching the Redskins face off the Dallas Cowboys. Michael Jordan, Serena Williams, and various other famous athletes all grinned at me from their respective Wheaties boxes, seemingly mocking my pain. My uncle collected them and, for some reason, had decided the bright orange boxes would be a great decorative addition to the basement wall behind the television. I remember once, when I was younger, I was searching for a movie to watch and I accidentally brushed against a limited edition Michael Jordan box. The box began to teeter, and I immediately knew that I was doomed. All the boxes began to fall like dominos to the floor. My uncle, needless to say, was furious. Thus, it was seemingly fitting that the offended boxes, now realigned on the wall, would have the privilege to witness my torture by football.…

My life has just been a total nightmare. I had never imagined that I would have to go through half of the things that I had gone through. Life had messed me up really bad. I never asked for anything. I just did what I was told because I was obeying the rules. I had always lived with my grandparents. They are like my parents since my real parents were never around when I was young. I am glad that they were around and still are to be there for me when I need them. My mother has always had a problem with drinking and doing drugs. I have no idea why but all that I know is that she used to do it while she was pregnant with me. That is why I dislike her so much. Anyways one day, my grandparents had decided to take her to a rehabilitation center where she can get help. During her time staying there, she had met my step-father, Steven York. Horrible man he was. I don’t even know what she had seen in that man but she loved him very much. They ended up getting married and I didn’t even know that. No one told me until my mother eventually told me when we had moved out to Rosemont. I had met some new people when I went to school but I only made one friend. Her name was Selena Guzman. She was always there for me when I ran out of my house. I say was because she had passed away in “09. Anyways, things started getting bad. The nightmare will now begin.…

The blaring ring of the alarm clock runs through my ears, marking the end of my pleasant six-hour sleep. I’m looking at the time and fumbling my hand next to me, managing to hit the snooze button and relapse back to my sleep. Repeating this several times, I eventually decided to get up, and turned off the alarm. I grabbed the towel lying on top of my chair, and turn around only to sneak a glance at the time. I stumble through the bathroom, flick the light switch brace myself for the glare of the lights as I struggle to open my eyes. After taking a nice, hot shower, I quickly got dressed and made my way to the kitchen. After my breakfast, I woke up my mom and told her to drop me off. She got up, and drove me to school.…
