As exciting as the sound of bugle calls us to arms, the Patriot, directed by Roland Emmerich, earns people’s hearts by its attractive and enthralling plot of the epic of a South Carolinian planter and widower Benjamin Martin(played by Mel Gibson) fighting the ruthless and brutal British dragoon captain called William Tavington(played by Jason Isaacs). A father of seven children, Martin is one of the British army during the French-Indian War, but with the tension evoked between America and Britain, and the unfortunate deaths of his two sons, Martin is determined to fight a bloody battle against the British in American Revolution. In general, the movie is attractive and heart-stirring, yet the actions of characters are so inaccurate, making the viewers to experience the illogical exaggeration combined with excitement.…

The Patriot is a film about the Revolutionary War. It was directed by Roland Emmerich and starred Mel Gibson as well as Heath Ledger and Joely Richardson. It has had three Oscar Award nominations and has won ten other awards. When the film was released it received much attention, criticism, and controversy, mostly for its historical accuracy (Glancy, Mark). In “The Patriot”, the tactics of war used by the British Army differ significantly from those used by the American rebels. The British based war and victory on honor. If a battle is not won properly, it might as well have not been won at all. Benjamin Martin, the leader of the rebels, identifies the pride of the British as their weakness. The American rebels based war on victory itself and concentrated their efforts in simply defeating the British. Their sole objective is to win; they did not have the luxury of being “civil” in their war tactics. This contrast is shown very well in several scenes from the movie.…

There are many differences and similarities in the book and movie Our America. The book and the movie Our America is a story about two best friends, both teenagers named LeAlan and Lloyd. They went throughout their neighborhood recording everything that happens in their daily life and what happens in their neighborhood on a daily basis. The reason it is called Our America is because they want to show the readers “their America” in the ghetto. I think that the book and the movie version of Our America have more differences than similarities.…

The Patriot was a Hollywood version for the story of Francis Marion and the Swamp fox. The swamp fox was a group of men who fought the British Army using Guerrilla warfare. "Marion and his irregulars often defeated larger bodies of British troops by the surprise and rapidity of their movement over swampy terrain". 2 The Hollywood version of the Swamp fox was quite close; the main Character Benjamin Martin was the leader of a group similar to the Swamp fox. The members of this group destroyed some British arm supplies line by using "hit and hide" method. There were many inaccurate information and flaws in The Patriot. Killing the Prisoner of war like in the Patriot never occurred. Both the American Solider and the British army obeyed the laws of war. There are no records about British army put people in churches and burn them. The Patriot gives us an impression that the war was solely a war between the colonists and the British army. Only one American…

I choose Forrest Gump as a historical movie. The movie was about a young man with a mental disability that goes through this major event in the 1960 – 1970s not only that but it was kind of romantic. Though out the entire movie, Forrest seems to be going along with the time line in his life looking for his first true love Jenny. Mean while she is living it out as a hippie tagging along with the wrong crowd and as for Forrest he maintains hope that one day she will love him. Not only that but the events that he lived in leads him to become a war hero and a billionaire. In the end he realize that life keeps on going as a “destiny or floating alike a breeze”.…

This classic hero was done good in this modern rendition of a very old storyline. Steve Rogers, a sickly young man turned super soldier, who wanted nothing more than to fight alongside his fellow Americans, and childhood best friend, captured the hearts of action and comic book lovers. In a perfect combonation of writing and direction, the movie ensures that the viewer falls in love with Steve Rogers before they made him into a true hero. I particularly enjoyed Steve’s character growth out of simply the good for the sake of good trope that's assigned to so many righteous characters, as they progressed his storyline and he learned more about the realities of such a brutal…
