Instructor Norman-White The Pact

They say if you can dream it you can achieve it. Each and every one of us has the chance to be brilliant we just have to be willing to take the risks. There will be times where we think we can not make it but, we just have to stay the course and believe in ourselves. In the book the pact by Drs. Sampson Davis, George Jenkins, and Rameck Hunt they reveal how we can all make it through our ups and downs and achieve our seemingly impossible goal.

When we start our road to success, we must have a positive outlook and identify why we are doing it. As a result, it will motivate us to finish what we started. In the book, the three doctors lived in a environment where crime, drugs, and broken homes were all that roamed the streets. "We hope our story will also demonstrate that anyone with enough compassion has the power to transform and redirect someone else's troubled life" (p.4). The three doctors explain how they faced the troubles that were thrown at them in order to inspire others. In addition, Identifying the reasons as to why we want to accomplish a certain goal allows us to look back when we are in doubt. Each and every one of us has our own views and opinions. We can not avoid criticism. There will come a point where our closest friends and family will doubt us. "Don't try to live high off the hog" (p.54). Rameck's mother reveals how she doesn't want Rameck dreaming too big. There comes a time where we turn to others for support and advice yet, it does not always play out like that, others may look at your goals or opinions in a different way. However, we must learn how to accept criticism; that should not stop us from achieving our goals. We should use that negativity as motivation to fulfill the entire journey. There comes days where we feel lazy, discouraged, and we just want to give up and throw it all away. The road to success takes time

The German-Japanese alliance during World War II was made official in September of 1940, a full year after the start of the war in Europe. However, the German Japan relationship dates back to 1936, when Hitler sent Joachim von Ribbentrop to sign the Anti-Comintern Pact with Japan. The Anti-Comintern Pact was an agreement between Germany and Japan to thwart the spread of communism. This was the beginning of the Axis alliance, and Italy joined in late 1936. In case of an attack by the Soviet Union against Germany or Japan, these two countries would back each other. Germany ensures that it would have an ally in event of a Soviet attack, and Japan had Germany recognize its puppet regime in Manchuria. Hitler broke the terms of this pact in…

Just don't let anything discourage you from achieving your goals.” I saw courage and hope in her eyes. She was happy for seeing another day which most of us take it for granted. I remember I did not even know how many arteries the heart had or the importance of the heart beside pumping blood, but to see people believing in me when I doubted myself made me to be aware that this was the right path for me. I was blessed to get an opportunity to shadow Dr. Victor because it made me realize that I can save many poor children in Ethiopia who can't afford treatment. Later that day, I made a promise to myself that no one would be going to school in Ethiopia with a heart problem, and I said to myself no more “ I can not play or run any…

To some people, life is hard, cruel and merciless. These people see life as punishment throughout their entire lives. They therefore resigned themselves to fate, believing all is finished. They lost every sense of direction and most times, some of them go as far as committing suicide, just to escape the injustice life has meted out to them. Hunter “Patch” Adams isn’t one to escape this dilemma. Having been institutionalized for depression, he soon realizes his profound sense of purpose in helping his fellow patients after ‘connecting’ to them, he wanted to learn about people and help them with their troubles. This event inspired him to become a doctor. He got out of the institution and eventually attending the University of Virginia medical school.…

No doubt my influences have inspired me to set my life on a course to pursuing a career in the medical field as far as my motivations they stem from helping others, knowledge, development, moral personal standards and helping society. These values explains what I inspire to become and provide through my work. Helping others has always been a natural goal for myself. It came easy for me to want to help others. Helping others is important to me, because the smallest gestures of help can transform one’s life in the most beneficial way. Not everyone has the help of family and friends so, I believe everyone needs help even when they do not ask for it. Just knowing that by helping others I can possibly improve one’s mood, life or health creates meaning and purpose for my life. It makes me feel like I am working towards my purpose. For example, in high school I was in a club called the Random Act of Kindness Club. While in this club I learned that just by doing small acts of kindness can really make a difference in the lives of others. While in this club I decorated a teacher’s door because she got teacher of the month. We surprised her by decorating her door. This may mean nothing to some people, but to her it meant everything. It showed her that her…

    never give up

I want to tell to all of you that the only valid excuse you have to give up is if you are dead. As long as you are alive you have the choice to keep trying until you finally succeed. Secondly you must be realistic and should know that the the chance of mastering something in the first time is almost non-existent. Everything takes time to learn and you will make mistakes. Learn from them. There is a well saying that:- “Don’t be discouraged. It’s often the last key in the bunch that opens the lock. I want to tell you that you are stronger than you think. One little setback is not enough to stop you from achieving your goals. Neither are 10 or 100 or 1000 setbacks. You don’t want to be known as someone that is weak and gives up. Go out there and prove yourself to the world and to yourself. You CAN and WILL achieve what you set out to do. The only time you fail is when you give up. If someone else can do it then so can you. Even if it is only one other person in the world that has achieved what you have set out to achieve, that should be reason enough for you to never give up. In life there are going to be many people who will try to bring you down and tell you what you want to achieve is not possible. Don’t let anyone destroy your dreams and always believe in your dreams. Let the people you love and who mean the world to you be your inspiration to persist and persevere. I want to tell you that always keep in mind that there are people that are worse than you. Right now also there are many people who are in a worse situation and environment than you are right now. Are you thinking about giving up running 5 miles a week? Think about the people who are unable to…

Even though there were many great books to choose from, I chose The Pact for my short novel essay. The Pact has a great reputation and was recommended by a few famous celebrities. The book was also a New York Times and Essence #1 Bestseller. It is powerful and inspiring as it shows the importance of good decision making in all aspects alike. It is about making the best out of every situation, to abstain from drugs, committing to your studies, and picking yourself back up when you are just about ready to give up. Most importantly, this book illustrates the importance of friends and how it is important to choose them wisely as they influence you greatly whether you know it or not.…
