The Outsiders: Darryl Curtis A Hero

Darryl Curtis is a hero. There are many things that make him a hero. He made sacrifices for his brothers, was a hard worker, and always wants to protect and take care of his younger brothers. Although Darry wasn't really a main character in The Outsiders, he definitely played a very heroic role in the novel.

Darry made several sacrifices in his life, in order for Sodapop and Ponyboy to be able to have better lives. When their parents died, Darry passed up a college scholarship and became responsible for his two younger brothers. He could have gone to college, played football and had a normal life. Instead, he sacrificed everything so Soda and Pony didn’t have to be put in Boys’ Homes and they could stay together.
