This article described in detail the origin and facts about the Mormon religion. It

described Joseph Smithʼs background and all about him growing up in Vermont in a family that was presbyterian. However, Joseph Smith prayed to God because he didnʼt feel that any other Christian religions suited him, and said that God told him to start the
“true” church. He then claimed that an angel Moroni came to him and revealed to him that there were revelations of Christ buried on top of a hill that he was to go and retrieve. These tiles were written in Reformed Egyptian and mysteriously vanished after
Joseph Smith translated it into “The Book of Mormon”.
!

The “Book of Mormon” explains all of Godʼs revelations. It states that America is

“the Land of Zion”. It also states that the Land of Zion is to be the New Jerusalem. It also states that Joseph Smith is one of many prophets before him and that all events including Columbus coming to America were all part of the plan leading up to the building of New Jerusalem.

During his translating Joseph Smith said that he and his translator were visited

by an angel declaring them ordained Aaronic priests. This meant that they were able to preform sacrament like baptism and the laying on of the Holy Spirit.
!

Joseph Smith then formed the Church of the Latter-Day Saints in New York and

was declared first elder and prophet. He then set up thirteen articles of faith detailing the

laws for Mormons to follow. In summary, they explain the way Mormons must behave and the things that they believe in. It says that they believe in God and Jesus and that men will not be punished for their sins of the sins of Adam and Eve. It says that as long as Mormons follow all the rules of the religion they will go to Heaven. They must do good in order to go to Heaven and they must be model citizens.
!

The Mormon Church then set up missions to go and baptize all of the country.

First, they went to Ohio and Cowdery and some

For most frontier settlers, traveling to the west was an opportunity but for the Mormons, it is a different story Opportunity for the Mormons meant religious freedom. The mormons made a substantial impact on western expansion. Joseph Smith, the founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of LatterDay Saints also known as the Mormons, settled in Kirtland Mills, Ohio in hopes to create a place for Mormons to live in the “Kingdom of God” on earth. In 1837, there was an economic collapse of the Kirtland settlement which caused many Mormons to leave but Smith decided to head west of Missouri with his followers. In a year, conflicts arose between the Mormons and their neighbors who feared Mormonism caused the Missouri governor to ordered all the Mormons to leave the state. Smith who feared for an impending massacre, followed his instructions. The Mormons traveled east and found the city of Nauvoo on the Mississippi River. The city grew to over 10,000 inhabitants and missionaries helped the church increased to 35,000 members. As opposition to Mormonism starts to cause problems, Smith and his brother gets arrested and murdered in a cell…

Most of the people in the Bible lived in or around a land that was called Palestine in Jesus' time, and which is now part of the modern state of Israel. Rome was a city-state then (Rome is now the capital of Italy), ruling large tracts of land around the Mediterranean Sea, including Palestine. Situated between Egypt, Syria and Arabia, and the birthplace of Judaism and Christianity, the region has a long, violent and noisy history as crossroads for religion, culture, commerce, and politics.…

    Mormonism Vs Christianity

Since the first day I heard of Mormons I’ve always been asking myself whether if they have similar beliefs to my beliefs or different ones. In my home country El Salvador, the Mormons are not really that popular, it is a very small community and I’ve only heard small details of them from my parents, which I must say they do not know much. During my interview with one of my friends in Dickinson Hannah I learned a lot of things about Mormonism. In my personal opinion there are more similarities than there are differences. For instance whether they call it a bit different than I do call both are the same God, as well as me she believes in Jesus Christ who came to the world and died to save humanity from sins, just like Christianity, Mormons also read the bible and follow it in a way. Not just her beliefs but some of her traditions and holidays are the same, for instance just like me she goes to a temple every Sunday to pray, as I go to church every Sunday to pray too. Easter and Christmas are two very important holidays which Mormons and Christians share. In my interview I learned that Mormons are very similar to Christians, although Christians do different things than Mormons do or whether Christians have different symbols than Mormons have, we both believe in the same God and the same principles.…

Israel’s distinctive faith and identity as a people begins with Moses. Those who had come from the desert with Moses were a fairly small group. Their flight from slavery in Egypt and the years they spent in the desert had led them to a faith that was unlike any other in the ancient world. When the group entered Palestine they were joined by others already living there. Most of these people came from the lowest levels of society, they were not artisans or aristocrats. This diverse group, joined together by a common faith in God, gradually gained control of the interior of Palestine.…

Paul and Barnabus were worshiping at the church at Antioch, Syria and the holy Spirit came forth and sent them on their journey to convert and evangelize both Jews and Gentiles to believe the word of the Lord. They began in Cypress from the towns of Salamis to Paphos. They first proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. They tried to lead the Jews to accept Jesus as the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophesies that said He is the Savior or the Messiah. Many Jews turned against them, so they also spread the Good News to Gentiles (Non-Jews). Paul was invited to visit a high-ranking Roman official named proconsul Sergius Paulus who wanted to hear the word of God. His adviser, Elymas the magician, tried unsuccessfully to turn Sergius Paulus away from the faith. Filled with the holy Spirit, Paul temporarily blinded Elymas, and the proconsul as a result, became a believer.…
