The Nice Guys, the most recent project released by Iron Man 3 director Shane Black, is the story of the rugged hitman Jackson Healy (Russell Crowe) and the ever-sleazy detective Holland March (Ryan Gosling).

The mismatched pair go looking for Amelia, a girl who’s gone missing after the adult film star, “Misty Mountains” dies due to mysterious circumstances. Gosling is first introduced with a hangover, lying in his bathtub, fully clothed with the words “you’ll never be happy again” written on his hand.

Meanwhile, our second hero is beating up a man caught fooling around with his client’s underage daughter. He then rides over to Gosling’s house and breaks his arm as a warning to stop looking for Amelia. Throughout the movie, this duo hit the road meeting, foul-mouthed kids, protestors, a hit man named john boy, and a 15-year-old girl. The tone of the movie is set immediately with the classic song “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” with a title card reminiscent of a neon sign from the 70’s.

is a tribute to the nice guys. The nice guys that finish last, that never become more than friends, that endure hours of whining and bitching about what assholes guys are, while disproving the very point. This is dedicated to those guys who always provide a shoulder to lean on but restrain themselves to tentative hugs, those guys who hold open doors and give reassuring pats on the back and sit patiently outside the changing room at department stores. This is in honor of the guys that obligingly reiterate…
